    Protein skimmer question...

The external version is the Aquamedic Turboflotor Multi SL. It can be used in sump, or HoB either on tank or on sump. Here's the documentation for your skimmer: http://www.aqua-medic.com/products/docs/T1000_Stand_Alone.pdf One of the main reasons for a skimmer being fed from the drain (gravity...

Old live rock used in garden... some questions

I did decide against it, and after talking with my buddy, he said that it's not worth the risk either. That didn't come to his mind either when we first talked about the rock. No biggie not being able to use it. Kinda gives me another project, DIY Rock.

Old live rock used in garden... some questions

Good call on the pesticides/absorption. I think I am going to pass on this rock. Too bad, it's nice rock and I'm sure at one point it was flourishing in his tanks.

Old live rock used in garden... some questions

I'm going to try to identify them this weekend. The 3rd one just has a cool look, which I think will look good in the tank. The 2nd... eh, more color and texture value than anything.

Old live rock used in garden... some questions

Thanks for the reply Zer0. I'm gonna pick up the Dechlor this weekend and get these rocks going. Like I mentioned, there is about 100lbs of this just waiting for me. Most of it is like the first image, and a few stray pieces like the 2nd and 3rd images. Here's a couple picks of the ones I...

Old live rock used in garden... some questions

Hey all, a few questions. A good friend of mine, an avid hobbyist, asked if I would like some rock that he used to have in a 210g SW setup. I took a look at it and said sure. He's been out of SW for some time, but is still in the FW scene. The rock, (long dead) has been laying around a couple...

    My 125g Stand Build

Etunes: Saltwater Reef. This is a long term project that I have been working on for some time now. I've had the tank for a few years now. I actually had a 55g that I was getting ready to add water to for a FW setup, and while I was out at the LFS, I came across this tank that he was selling for...

Picked up a 55g today, filtering questions

Thanks, I actually picked up 2 new tanks this week, the one above and a 70g Oceanic setup. the 70 was setup as an African Cichlid tank, and all I basically have to do is add water, cycle and add fish, it came with everything else, including a Fluval 305, and some very nice rock also! I was...

Picked up a 55g today, filtering questions

Hey all, picked up a 55g bowfront today for $150, complete setup. I was a bit iffy at first but then figured the tank, rock and fish alone was well worth the $ Brief Description: The setup has been running for 1.5 years, and was maintained by a LFS for a business. I'm assuming, from the...

    My 125g Stand Build

So there's my stand. It came out pretty nice IMO. It will be moved to the living room once I'm done with the hardwood flooring. I put a total of 6 doors on this stand, and will also be installing a "roller" type tray on the left side for the sump. It won't get used much, but if I need to remove...

    My 125g Stand Build

I did not add any other "bracing" to the stand. The way that I built this stand is kind of like, "Skeleton and Skin". The "skin/facia" gives the "skeleton" its structural reinforcement. I'm at work at the moment, but will post more images tonight. By using pocket holes on each upright, any side...

Hello all, Been lurking the forums here for some time, reading, reading and more reading. Over the last couple of weeks I have been putting all the ideas together; the stand and hood is in the workshop (Planing the wood and building, I'll post pics of the progress as it goes) and I'm at the...

    A Forum Prowler exposed :)

Hello all. I've been prowling around these forums for some time now, and figured it was high time I signed up. I have owned an Oceanic 125g Reef Ready tank for about 6 years now, and haven't set it up yet, (got a really good deal on it since the molding was scratched; bought it, took it home...
