    Clown eggs

My clowns have had a batch of eggs in a 55 g aquarium. This was an unplanned pregnacy! Is there anything I need to do to help some of the new guys survive. I just noticed them tonight, but they may have been there a few days...

    Snail egg incubation?

I have a snail in my tank of unknown variety. Last night it deposited about 50 egg cases on the glass of the tank. I was curious as to how long (generally speaking) snail eggs take to hatch, and if there are lots of young in one case or just a few. (Don't really want hundreds of 'em crawling...

Hi, I have recently been in contact with the marine biology dept. of the Dallas Aquarium. Jeff was kind enough to answer some questions I had regaurding the indentification of a gulf anemone. He expressed a differnet view point than what is usully heard about keeping multiple anemones in one...

    moonlights

I want to install a moonlight on my 55 gal. My question is, is it better to buy a pre-made light set, or will one of the kits work fine for me? I do have basic electrical skills, but really don't want to accidentally fry my fish. <grin> Any advice or past experiences would be appreciated.

The cleaner shrimp from tropical Atlantic are often called Lysmata grabhami. The Atlantic shrimp, the white stripe goesall the way to tthe end...

    big snail confussion

I had a major algae bloom, so I bought a major snail. At the LFS they said it was a "coraline snail". Since it is covered in coraline, I figure that is a VERY generic name. I have attached a pic of it. My turbo has a cone shaped shell, but the big guy has a rounded spiraled shell. It is about 4...

I have moved my fish to a hospital tank to be treated for ich, they are progressing nicely. In the main tank, I have a chocolate chip star, a brittle star, pepermint shimp, fire shrimp, a snail, and a couple of hermits, and an insane growth of brown algae. I'm giving the scavengers 1 cut up...

    Pale domino

I noticed last night that my domino was swimming about in an agitated manor, he has also faded from the rich black to a pale brown. I checked the water ph, nitrate, nirtite amonia, temp. etc. and everything is normal. The other damsels, and mandarin, and inverts seem fine. I tried to isolate the...

    fire shrimp relief

After a few hours of confussion, my fire shrimp took up residence behind a rock, and very rarely makes an appearance. I found a vivid red empty shell this morning and spent 30 minutes bemoaning my luck before I discovered it was just his molt. He was fine, I am wiser.

    sea squirt?

This picture isn't the best, as it sits in a crevice, but I'm thinking this might be a sea squirt. It is growing fairly quickly and is translucent pink. I ca only see one tube coming out of it, but it is in a gap and very well could have the second tube. My first thought was a sponge, but as it...

    Tweety

Here is Tweety, hogging the camera just like he hogs the food. This fish likes to eat! I am having a blast wth this guy as he will actually interact with me. After doing a bit of research, I've discovered that the risk of him poisoning the tank is minimul, and the enjoyment is maximum. Lactoria...

    Fire Shrimp

The attached pics are of the new Lysmata debelius. He is soo fun to watch. the LFS guy said he would clean the fish, after watching him, not a doubt in my mind he would love to "clean" a fish or two. He really wants to "clean" the peppermint shrimp most of all....

    Snail with bad habits?

I came home and was searching for the mysterious clam thing, when I noticed my snail (turbo/turban) was smoking. Didn't actually have a marlboro, but had a smokey cloud all around it. This lasted for a few seconds then it went on doing whatever it is snails like to do. What's going on with it...
