    Why a protein Skimmer?

I got the function part down, it's just I would like it to be concealed, and the Oceanic one is air driven, is that sufficient enough or is it going to be a lousy investment vs. other types of skimmers, so overall is it worth the expense given that I do PWC and keep the parameters in check. Just...

    Why a protein Skimmer?

Hi, New SW tank being setup soon, and I need a good quote for the expenses, in which I'm sure most of you would understand. I have a 29gal. Bio cube and I've been waiting to set it up. It is going to be a FOWLR set up for sure. Just one problem. Do I need a protein skimmer? I am told it is not...

    29 gallon suprise

Sweet, just one more question, with your skimmer and heater, I assume they are both in the sump. How do you keep the wires from the blocking the full hood on the bio cube? Can the hood close all the way, is there an extra hole built in the hood to allow wires out of the sump area? Thanks.

Hey Brad, just out of curiosity, what type of skimmer and heater are you using?

14g BioCube - some weird stuff going on?

I know this is off topic, but do those bio cubes come with a heater in the set-up?

    Sick Cory Cat

Thanks Guys! I know this sounds weird, but I do not know how to pm, and as for the master test kit, does it matter what time I test my water?

    Sick Cory Cat

Sorry, 20 gallon high, about 81 degrees F, no test kit unfortunately, but had a water change last Friday, only tank mates are 6 platies, and two other cories. Nothing new has been added, but he died this morning unfortunately, and his body was really pale, my pic did not show up right. Darn it!

    Sick Cory Cat

Hey Guys my Panda cory is sick, and I do not know what is wrong with him, I am told it is a bacteria infection, he is very pale with a white spot on his forehead. I have a pic, a bad one, but he stays in my plants all day and does not move much, I treated with melafix for about three days, and...

I don't mind them moving at all, I just was not sure if it was advised to layer! Okay I got a list, let me know if they are compatible or if any substitutes should be added! Amazon sword, Anubias round leaf, camboba, chainsword, dwarf hairgrass, maybe dwarf baby tears, java fern, ludwigia...

Thanks for the info gheit, so if I went with black sand by seachem, could I mix it with flourite? How about gravel as well, would you need to make layers, or is that bad? Is it better to make little patches of sand with the gravel or clay? or should you make one tank half sand and half gravel...

Cool gheit! Do you perhaps know a good number of websites that could give me some reliable info on keeping discus, if you don't mind! If you don't, it's okay! Oh and I've been meaning to ask what do ya'll think of onyx sand my seachem, is it worth it in a planted tank, how about a non-planted FW...

Where can I rent a CO2 system again? Do you guys really recommend that over liquid fertilization or flourish excel? Is a discus a bad choice for a 29 gallon planted, I know they need a high temp, and I know they're another piece of work. Thanks!

I wanted to keep a couple of plants with high light requirements, and I would like to have a high light fixture that could take care of that and everything below, as for CO2 I just feel more comfortable with the liquid, I feel like I will make a mistake with DIY, I just hope it's as efficient...

Wow I didn't know plants melted, that blows! Wow I really liked anachris, hmm. . . I like camboba though, okay how about a 29 gallon planted, is that too small? Would Excel be better for that too for something like camboba, I really want a coral life light, I don't know if that's for highly lit...

What are good sizes for a breeder tank as in 20 high, or 29 gallon? Is liquid CO2 better in these types of aquarium set-ups, if I wanted to keep anachris, ludwigia, water sprite, or java fern? Would these melt as well? Why does it melt? Thanks purr!

Lighting for one is a must, do you have any suggestions? I would like to keep my tank covered from outside particles should I put a top on it, how about glass tops, does that affect the rays of the lamps? What are good fertilizers to put in your planted tank? And is there a such thing as liquid...

I wanted to 405 and I e-mailed the lady she told me it came with everything except the hosing and fittings! Is that why the price is knocked down so much?

Thanks Tank, one more thing! I've thinking about buying a fluval from e-bay and this lady said it comes with everything except hosing and fitting, it is not supposed to come with that right? Or is that why the price is under $100 for a 405? I hope its a good deal because those run up to about $200.

Thanks for the input guys, I just checked out that ebay site for fluval 405 for only 80 bucks plus shipping I think I might try it out, but does anyone have experience with the Fluval 404 is it user friendly? Thanks Again!

Thanks for the info, now that I have that in mind which one should I try first a fluval or a rena? Are they both about the same on maintenance, I am on a budget I do not want to go over 200 bucks. Thanks!
