i've read that if you're going to switch out your substrate, you can put a few handfuls of your old stuff in pouches made from new panty hoes and let those float for a bit.

is it an apple/mystery snail? i would try touching it. like on it's little trapdoor. if it pulls back in, then it's just hanging out bein cool. if there's no response, it's probably bedtime for bonzo. mine do that dormant thing off and on all the time, no biggie. i don't think though that...

yeah, i use it in my HOB filters, i just stick a gob in where the insert goes. it works great.

okay. i know mystery/apple snails have a bad rep. for eating plants, but i've never had it happen. that's the thing. so buy em some algae wafers, or shrimp pellets, they like both. and maybe they won't be tempted by plants.

nope. really, i've put male bettas in community tanks before, they mostly hate other male bettas and anything that could resemble one. bright colors, long fins, etc. you could probably even put like a whisker shrimp/ghost shrimp in there.

you could probably use heater suction cups for the tubing. i've seen them separately at the store.

SNAILS. i love snails. mystery/apple snails are the bomb diggity. great algae eaters, and i think they are one of the most majestic creatures to watch.

if it's like my penguin, that little vent just affects water flow. i think. it doesn't seem to really matter if it's open or closed. intake at the top and the bottom? i know that if i have my sponge sleeve on the bottom, the biowheel won't spin if the top isn't open a little bit... i hope this...
