    New Shrimp Tree

No I don't. I wanted to keep the setup as simple and stable as I possibly could to accommodate the CRS so I kept it low light, low tech and very slow growing.

    New Shrimp Tree

Actually, the tank is open top and the light is just a Wallyworld $15 desk lamp. I had two over the tank but removed one when I started to get hair algae. It seems to be working great. Everything is growing in well and the shrimp are happy. I thought about switching to a better light bit...

    New Shrimp Tree

Yeah. I had some shrimp in another tank and they were doing very well. I had probably 40 or so counting babies. I added one flagfish to help clean out so hair algae and... two weeks later no more algae and no more shrimp.

    New Shrimp Tree

Go for it! I'm in the process of setting up another 10g shrimp tank to go with this one. No Co2 on this tank. It's fairly low light and low tech. These shrimp need a stable environment and CO2 is just another thing that can go wrong. Thats why I used slow growing plants as well. No need...

    New Shrimp Tree

Meegosh and dkpate: I never thought I'd get into shrimp either. I was always a big tank and aggressive kinda guy. Stumbled into planted tanks about six months ago and from there made my way to shrimp. There are a ton of different types out there and many are quite beautiful. Its a fun...

    New Shrimp Tree

Just a quick update. Things are moving reeeeeeeeeeealy slow. Moved the hairgrass to another tank because it was growing a bit long for my liking but the E. Tenellus 'Micro Red' that replaced it is growing in very well and turning a very pretty pink color. The 'Petite' is doing what it does...

    New Shrimp Tree

Things are coming along here. Still not a whole lot of growth so no real point in photos. Looks like the AS is finally slowing down on the leaching of ammonia. I tested .5ppm the day after a 50% WC yesterday. Anyone know how long it usually takes for it to stop? I'm also reading Nitrite (on...

    New Shrimp Tree

Well, I got the tree done and the A. Nana 'Petite' all done. I started to plant some of the hairgrass but I've got to get ready for my pool league. Looks like I'll have to finish tomorrow. I'll have some pics up then. Thanks for looking and commenting.

    New Shrimp Tree

I've read the same as well. This 'Petite' grows so slow though that I won't have to worry about trimming for quite a long time.

    New Shrimp Tree

Thanks I'm going to keep this and the other ten gallon I'm working on low tec. Want to raise shrimp and don't want to make it any more difficult than it has to be. The 15g that I have with my RCS in it now, however, I'm thinking about doing DIY CO2 in the near future. I want to focus more on...

DIY stand for a 60g hex

Its been up for ten days as of now. The original stand for this thank was built in a similar manner but with less sturdy joints. It lasted for a good 30 years or so. Plywood is actually quite strong on end. Just take a look inside any commercially build stand. No 2x4's to be found. The...

Nah. I got some nice healthy ones to help with the cycle. Its done now (I seeded with filter from another tank along with mulm and other stuff) but my brother wants to wait until he has a little more money to get his school of tetras. At that point the goldfish will go visit Stevie. This is...
