wtb: low to medium light plant package...

HI folks, I've been out of the loop for several months, and returned to look into some of Fort's offerings of plant packages that I saw over the spring and summer. No luck. Hope all's well there... Is anyone else offering low to medium light plant packages? I'm not picky about what I get...

    Ghost shrimp not ghostly

Hey folks, A couple of my six ghost shrimp in my 40 gallon tank have turned off-white with greenish legs. Their bodies in particular look very odd and are no longer see-through. The other four are normally "ghostly." I was gone for 10 days and came back and found this... Are these blonde...

    First Rams

The rams are settling right in now and appear to be doing fine. Their appetite is certainly not a problem. Both even come to the top for food during feeding time. Regarding Rummies... I'm reading elsewhere that they like fairly acidic, soft water. Our local tap water (and that of our LFS --...

    First Rams

Rummy's 'eh? Hmmmm... I'll certainly keep that one in mind. Thanks for the thoughts on the rams. A while back I found some definite full-color females exhibiting all the features you described at another fish store in a neighboring town. But the choices weren't that clear-cut this time...

    First Rams

My two are still friends, at least. They hang out together with just minor scuffles today. Colors haven't improved much on the larger one, and they didn't "dance" as much today as they did when I first put them in yesterday. But who knows what goes on when the lights go out and we all go...

    First Rams

I've been putting off buying rams for several weeks, but I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple for my wife's office tank yesterday. It's a 40 gallon bowfront with community fish in there (2 swords, 13 neons, 4 cories, 3 otos, a few ghost shrimp, planted with live plants and two large...

just bought my first live plant.

I almost bought some bamboo at "a large fish store" but thought better of it at the time. I still might, though. Some of it was pretty tall, with the leaves all at the top. My idea: You know the holes that folks always punch out of the plastic cover of their tank -- to accomodate the...

Should I sterilize used aquarium before setting up?

HI folks, I've got three large aquariums that I purchased off Craig'sList, used. All were running "tropical" FW fish up until the time I transferred them to my house, and appeared clean. The transfer went smoothly, and I left things pretty much as they were as I transitioned to my personal...

    New Oto went pale!

Spent today looking for SAE and Otos at the fish stores between Wasilla and Anchorage, Alaska. Guess SAEs are difficult to come by up here, and Otos sell very quickly. Only one store out of six had Otos, so I bought them both ;). Will add a few more to my 55 gallon as soon as I can find more...

    any alaskans??

I'll chime in a couple months late -- from Wasilla. Is it true that there's only one fish store (Pet Zoo) anywhere in the valley north of Eagle River? I find that amazing!! Where are the best LFSs in Anchorage? Any "mom and pop" type aquarium stores that focus on fish in Southcentral? Those...

    My 55g bowfront is actualy a 72g!

So there's where my missing gallons went... I bought a "55 gallon" bowfront off Craigslist recently and it measures out at about 40 gallons without substrate. :-) Oh well, it's a nice tank and I got it cheap enough:rolleyes:.

    Introductions

You asked for it... :D I've been bouncing around on this forum for several weeks, and decided to register today. I've had fish tanks off and on pretty much since I was a kid (totalling about 25 years now). But I took a hiatus for several years and just recently "got back into it". I will...
