    artificial decorations

I have another tank (40g) with live rock and it always gets full of algae. No matter what I do. And it is very difficult to clean (actually I've never managed to clean it completly). Then it gets full of algae again and again (even if my nitrates/phos are ok). The artificial decor can be...

    artificial decorations

Hello! I'm planing to start a new FO tank to host some not reef safe fish. I don't want to use live rock in the display tank as it is hard to care for (I will put some in the sump for filtration). I came across Instant Reef artificial decorations. Their website sounds good but I was wondering...

    Sick coral

The tank is running for about 1 year and I have the coral for about 10 months. I have other corals but nothing near by (and for sure nothing that can touch it). It started looking like that about 1 week ago. In the beginning it looked like it was shedding a skin layer (or something like that)...

I think I have a case of Cryptocaryon in my reef tank

Thanks for the advice! Seems that, in the mean time, the white spots have disappeared. I looked very carefully. What should I do?

I think I have a case of Cryptocaryon in my reef tank

I think I have a case of Cryptocaryon in my reef tank. My flame angel has two white spots on the caudal fin and my yellow tang has one on the dorsal fin and one on its body. I've also seen them scratch against objects in the tank. Apart from this, they seem ok (they are eating, swimming normally...

    Artemia vs. enriched artemia

I've been reading that artemia doesn't have too much nutritional value and that it is not a good food for my saltwater fish. What about "Ocean Nutrition Super Shrimp"? Is that ok? They say it is Enriched Brine Shrimp with Omega-3. However, they don't say how they've enriched it?! It is not gut...

    Dead fish

Ok. The lack of correct food can be the answer, although the aquarium has enough algae in my opinion. But can this explain the sudden death? Bad nutrition should have made the fish to show some signs before the death (like being lethargic, getting thin, diseased etc.) shouldn't it?

    Dead fish

It was eating like crazy, anything I was giving (formula 1, Formula 2, mysis, brine shrimp etc.). Even last evening I saw it eat some chopped krill and squid. This is what makes its death curious, it was very active, eating everything, looking perfect...

    Dead fish

This morning I've found one of my fish dead, my Salarias fasciatus, and I cannot understand why. I have a 40g reef tank. The system is 8 months old, the water parameters are ok and the other tank mates seem to do fine. I have another 2 occellaris clowns, 2 dartfish (Nemateleotris decora), 1...

    Algae problem

I thought about that also. But what is the solution? I have a good skimmer (designed for 100g), I have a "Nitratreductor" and a phosphate sponge. I am not feeding too much anyway. The aquarium is not near a window or sunny place. I could cut back on lighting hours, but wouldn't this affect my...
