I don't think you'll have a problem with those fish breeding. They are egg layers and require certain conditions to breed and the fry require special foods and such to survive.

What are your ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings as well as the tank temp and tankmates?

:thumb: for the advice here.. Also, antibiotics can destroy your biological filter, in turn creating bad water quality by causing ammonia and nitrite spikes, of which will compound the problem while trying to make it better. I would forgo the antibiotics and do daily water changes.

How about a media bag, or maybe some panty hose? If what you have around the house is safe for your tank, will fit in the filter without obstructing any flow or moving parts, and allows water to flow through it, you can use it.

If you are speaking of pump in terms of your filter, you'll be fine. IMO, the more filtration the better. It's really hard to overfilter a tank. What do you intend to stock your tank with, and is it going to be a freshwater tank or a saltwater tank?

It sounds fine to me. It's authorized for food plants which, to me, would make it safe for a fish tank.

Before you committ to by it, check it out first. Acrylic is nice, especially with a tank that size, because it is lightweight. However, you will want to make sure that it's not badly scratched up. I'd personally offer a lower price to the seller, maybe you can get them down a bit.

Keep drying it off and give it some time. Sometimes water will get into the bottom seal between the glass and the frame if you spill water on it and will make it appear to be leaking. I'd keep a close eye on it, keep it dried off and keep checking it, at least until tommorow.

You don't have to have a male in the tank. Most, if not all livebearers that you buy are already pregnant, and can have several batches of fry from one mating. They are most likely going to have black fins.

Agree, they looklike platies to me too. I have some red wags and that is what they look like when they are just born. The older they get the more they will color up.

I would say no. The crayfish can eat your other fish. However, I don't have any personal experience with them.. I have seen the LFS feed them feeders before and they are pretty good at catching them.

Nice tank! I'm unsure if you were mistaken on the name of the snail that you have or have been misinformed, but ramshorn snails will breed profusely in the fw tank and are often bothersome because they can overpopulate..

This is called a runner and is how the sword propagates. Wait until the plantlets get enough roots on them and are big enough to plant then simply prune the plantlets off and plant them.

Your tank is to small to keep both of these together in.. You will constantly have territory fights as they mature. Especially if they are both the same sex.
