Free: 10g planted guppy setup (Los Angeles Area pickup)

I'm moving and I'd like to see that my aquarium stuff goes to a good place. This is a full setup 10 g tank, great for beginners requiring very little care and including the following stock: animals: many random guppies (snakeskin pattern) 2 nerite snails 1 amano shrimp plants (all overgrown...

    My new tank...

I wouldn't put any more fish in there. You should read about the "cycle" if you want to understand why--in short, the bacteria that help break down toxic waste products of the fish aren't there yet. Since you cleaned the tank thoroughly I wouldn't be too worried about diseases, you should add...

Tall 15 gallon tank... need some ideas

Don't get dwarf frogs, they are inactive, hard to feed, and uninteresting creatures. Especially in tall tanks they will knock around everything when going up for air. I got two but returned them later. You could go for the classic betta setup, have a few otos and a school of something or other...

    Oily Film?

It's not harmful, don't worry. You are possibly overfeeding though, I heard this might be due to fats and proteins in the food, I'm not sure though. I see it too from time to time, I just don't let it bother me.

    Stocking a 12-gallon?

    Can't go wrong with shell-dwellers.

    Substrate on leaves

You probably added the plants before the fluorite settled. Just brush off the leaves and check if more comes back later. Fluorite is pretty settled after a few days.

Is a dwarf gourami big enough to eat neons?

Not sure if they are being eaten, a dwarf gourami can't dispose of 4 neons in a night.

    10g planted tank

The bubbles appear when you fill a tank for the first time or do a big water change. It's normal and will dissipate in a few days. Don't worry too much about it. If you already have animals in there I would not advise to switch to fluorite. It will be a MAJOR hassle for little, if any, benefit...

    New 55 almost complete

Nice variety, I like the way you use the smaller fish and have the centerpiece angelfish. I'd ditch the clown though.

    Betta and ADF questions

Don't worry, it's cycled, and the water quality is pristine. I change the water at least once a weak and its loaded with fast growing hornworts. And the fins are already healing! Yeah, I think my betta is very strange. He loves digging around for food on the bottom! He also eats from the top...

    Betta and ADF questions

Hi everyone, I have a betta and an African dwarf frog in a 5 gallon. They've been together for 3 weeks now. I have a few questions regarding these two: 1) Can the betta subsist on bloodworms? He doesn't eat the Hikari pellets I have for him. I heard it's not nutritionally balanced but I...

    what bottom feeders

Diamond tetras are really great. Other than that, you can try hatchetfish or Emperor tetras.

    Frozen bloodworms

I just looked at the pack of Hikari frozen bloodworms I bought. The box is marked 120204 in blue writing. Is this the expiration date or what?! I opened it and the odor was normal, so I fed some which the fish readily accepted. What would you do? What does the blue writing say on your package...

Hi all, I'm in the Los Angeles area, looking for a small amount of Java Fern, one or two Anubias nana and six to ten shrimp (preferably Neocaridinia species, or Palaeomonids, but not a mixture).

    Caves and dead spots

I'm thinking of adding a cave to my tank. Will this create circulation problems and support anaerobic bacteria which will kill my tank?!

    Cycling question =D

I'm going to use a raw shrimp. This will all happen in mid-July, just planning in advance. How long do you think the shrimp will continue to produce ammonia? This definitely depends on the size of the shrimp as well, so it might be a factor in what I use. Do you think a small piece of shrimp...

    NBA playoffs

Dwight Howard is an excellent role player, not a superstar like Yao. One thing I never understood was Mike Brown's defensive assignments. He played LeBron on Alston, Delonte West on Turkoglu, and Mo Williams on Rashard Lewis. LeBron is the type of player who would be boosted by having a...

    Cycling question =D

I'm also worried about the shrimp running out of ammonia in the middle of the three weeks. When does that occur? Sorry, I don't have another tank with me. All my old fish are at my parents' a few thousand miles away.

    Cycling question =D

Sure! I'll probably run it for 2 weeks, instead of 3. 3 week old shrimp just seems a little...ugh.
