    Copepods

Dumb question....:) I received an order for a cleanup crew that included 3 sponges filled with copepods. Since I don't have a refugium, do I put them directly in the tank or in the filter area? I have a 28 Nanocube. Thanks

    Media Basket DIY Question

Good morning.. I have two of the Nanocube LED tanks and was looking forward to getting rid of the stock media baskets and using the inTank version, however, the baskets are too large for the tank and inTank can't custom cut. While they are aware of the problem and acknowledge the issue, they...

What type of clown fish are these?

They look like Cinnamons though usually those are single striped. If these are wild caught, the two striped could be a mixed species or just a random gene pattern.

    Online fish ordering

Live Aquaria is good as has been pointed out and it is true their shippping is a little steep, however, their packaging is exceptional. In order to keep their shipping even where they have it, however, there is a $29.99 minmum order for marine fish. The cost with shipping does end up being...

    Jawhead

Quesiton...does anyone else have or had a jawfish that lived in multilpe burrows...at the same time? Mine has built three (of course avoiding the one I built FOR him) in different areas of the tank and he moves between them during the day, though he still prefers his orginal burrow for night time.

    Do You Eat Fish?

Most fish for consumers these days is tank-farm/farm raised. Even the areas driect form the ocean, like clam beds, are "reseeded" with clams on a regular basis to keep up the "crop." It is only when we have incidents like the Deepwater Horizon that the open commercial growing areas are in...

    Longnose hawkfish died

My LFS has 24hr on marine and 48hr on freshwater and even then you need to show perfect water parameters. If anything shows, even the least little bit, the guarantee is automatically voided.

    Nitrates

What size is the tank and what are you using for filtration media? If the tank is a smaller tank, 20g or less, you may not need a skimmer if, as indicated, you can do weekly water changes.

His eyes are bigger than his mouth

Fish must be a reincarnated labrador...my dog does the same thing :) Always picking something up that barely fits in her mouth...she can't pick up one shoe, no, she picks up the pair.

    Nasty Surprise

Blech..you are right..I just found a picture of the eunicid. Don't care..it still made my skin crawl. No, I don't scream and tiptoe around earthworms but I don't touch them or invite them into the house either :) Now spiders are another story....as I said, I hate creepy crawlies and there...

    Nasty Surprise

I had never seen it...didn't even realize it was in the tank. It had a good hiding spot. The rock it was in was on the bottom of the stack and it had plenty of room to roam behind the display and many nooks and crannies underneath and within other pieces of rock.

    Nasty Surprise

I didnt get a photo..it was grossing me out too much. I pulled a piece of liverock out of my established tank to transfer it to my new setup. I turned it over and was picking off the stringing sand and it MOVED. Come to find out, it was a bristle worm, looked black in color but that was probably...

    Duncan coral

I have one of those..two heads on a frag plug. Right now I have it at the bottom of the tank with a decent water flow under CFs but am getting ready to move it to a Nanocube with an LED setup. Your description should help with the new placement and extra care and hopefully get it to grow :)..the...

help! I can only find pet smarts

A few things about mail order. As jeta indicated, Live Aquaria has high shipping costs but their packaging is unequaled. The cost of shipping is not based upon weight so agreed, buying more will be less "expensive" in the overall percentage of shipping cost to product cost. As for time of...

    Yellow-Headed Jawfish

OK, I am going to cave in and ask :) A setup in one of my LFS' has a couple of yellow headed jawfish that I am quite taken with and I am thinking I want one of these guys for a 28NC. I have one 28 setup with a Clown and a Tailspot Blenny and while the sandbed may be shallow, I can certainly...

Have these really small things all over the glass in my tank

Are there more that are moving in the water itself? Have you tried using an algae scraper magnet to see if you can remove them that way?

    High Nitrites

The Prime will bind the nitrites so they won't harm your fish but being exposed even to that for al ong period of time can do harm. Now, on that, as has been pointed out, if you are cycling, leave the nitrites alone. Eventually they will turn into nitrates and THEN you do your water changes...

    Nitrates

WE had another member with the same issue...come to find out his nitrates were normal. He was using the API test kit and hadn't shaken the 2nd bottle when he first did the tests..it changed the concentarion of the reagent in the bottle. He finally took a tube of his water to his LFS and had...

    Biocube 14 Moonlights

People do different things. Me, I use the moonlights as sort of a nightlight in the room, others will put them on a timer and have them go out for a couple of hours. It is more personal preference I think. If you think about it, a true reef is never completely dark unless the sky is completely...
