I will suggest to use Hanna's Phosphate checker or Salifert test kits for PO4, you cannot exactly know your PO4 levels with API test kit, the colors are so confusing, in the long term if you are willing to keep corals get Hanna's PO4 Checker. Send some pics of your blenny :)

Hi VG, Which test kit are you using for PO4? Are you running GAC? High nitrates and po4 are the usual reasons for algae and higher inorganic nutrient levels.

    My fowlr - to reef

I'd feed them every other day but a lot of people feed daily perhaps more than once in a day, if you are skimming good, chaning water on time then you can do the same all you have to care is your water quality.

    Nitrates rising and Sulfur Denitrator

Hi started this tank in January 2011, 150g tank nitrates has been always 0 but since i got rid off the cyano outbreak using MB7 I can see nitrates raising, using API test kit and JBJ its between 3 and 4 ppm. I have a Sulfur Denitrator (Korallin) in hand, need advices if I shall start it? Or...

Beautiful, wash the shell with clean water preferably RO/DI and you can throw it in the tank. It doesnt look cyano to me, looks like some kind of sponge. Lets see other comments. Looks beautiful in blue lights, can you upload a picture of the lighting.

Sounds like you are using API test kits, dont trust API test kits for PH and CA, for PH get a digital monitor which is very accurate, in API if you see 8.4 it is 8.3 actually and if you see 8.3 it is usually 8.1 as per my experience I have cross checked API's PH results with American Marina...

PH buffers raise PH as well as alk, Seachem';s Marine Buffer doesnt raise PH more than 8.3 even if over doses but will raise Alk in your case you cant use it until your Alk drops, eventually your Alk will start dropping during the cycling period.

PH in my 150g is 8.10 after lights turn off at night and after the night its 8.02 in mornings till night. Seachem's Reef Buffer is what I use when I see my PH is going more down which is rare, it also adds in Alk which I am usually dosing daily.

Are you planning to add corals? I would increase the MG and CA both and your PH is good you dont need to worry but if you are really worried, get Seachem's Marine Buffer or Reef Buffer which is safe to raise the PH. Get Joe's Juice to kill Atapsia. Happy Reefing!
