    What's your favorite shaped tank?

My choice is long, low, and deep. When I say deep I mean front to back dimension.

    Question about feeding Goldfish zucchini.

I cut up some fresh zucchini into tiny pieces, but the little feeders(about 1 1/2") could not eat it. They would keep spitting it out like it never got soft enough. Do I cook or boil it first, or what am I doing wrong?

My LFS is doing something great.

Today I was in Aquarium World and saw the 48,000 gallon "abyss" torn down. The owner said they are having to redo the seals. But this time instead of having huge SW creatures, it will be a total of about 20,000 small FW fish-tetras, barbs, danios, and White Clouds. I always wanted them to do it...

    Ick on Goldfish advice.

I read the "If you think your fish have ick", but still a little confused. I'd rather do heat or salt than meds, but can a Goldfish tank be raised to 86F or more? If using salt is it better to salt the whole tank or give each fish a salt bath or dip in a seperate tank? There are 6 small feeder...

Added more fish to 20 long-near overstocked?

Yesterday I bought 7 Harlequin Rasboras. The tank now has 7 White Clouds, 2 Skunk Corys, 3 Albino Cories, and the Rasboras. Filtration is AC 50 HOB and AC 20 powerhead with quick filter attachment. Is this near overstocking or still a fairly light bioload?

    Common Goldfish or Pool Comet?

I thought the pool comets had the long tail. The high dollar "pool comet" I have has the short tail. And 5 out of 6 of the 13 cent feeders have the long tail. What is the difference between the two? Which is which??

    29 gallon Goldfish tank.

I got this one on Craigslist for a good price. The trim was oak woodgrain look and stand was brown. Not liking that, it was repainted. The back was spray painted blue. The original plan was to paint tank trim and stand with gray textured spray paint. But it took the 2 cans I bought just to hide...

    Preparing used tank?

I found a 29 gal setup on Craigslist. Should I disinfect it first? And how do you get rid of the hard water stains without scratching the glass-has enough scratches already. I will move my small pool comet fromt he 2.5 into the 29. And get it a tankmate for it. Then when they outgrow it, I'll...

Advantages to a long tank vs tall one??

Forgive me if it's been discussed before. I know there will be more oxygen exchange in a long tank, but some say if it is well aerated it doesn't matter. So if it's aerated, does it matter? Can my 20 long handle more fish than a 20 high?

    2.5 gallon with Goldfish pics.

I got bored with the Betta, so it went back to the LFS. In the near future I plan to get a 10 gallon for this pool comet or maybe a 29/30, so it can have a takmate or two. He/she's about 3 inches now. It's more entertaining to watch than the Betta-much more active and not a picky eater.

Update on 20 long with many pics.

Well, the tank has been cycled for a couple of weeks now. Near the end of the cycle I added 4 more White Clouds to make 8 total. 5 Red Eye Tetras were added. They nipped the tails of the White Clouds, so they were returned the next day. In return for the Red Eyes, I got 5 Skunk Corys. After...

Stocking 20 gal-your opinion vs AqAdvisor.

On the AqAdvisor site, I put 7 Panda Corys, 8 Neons, and 15 White Clouds for a 20 gallon tank. It states 87% stocked. Is that overstocking to you? What do you think?

    Betta closeups.

For these I used a Nikon D300 with 60mm macro lens. The flash-Nikon SB-800, was mounted to a tripod and aimed at the tank at an angle. If you use the built in flash, you'll usually get really bad glare.

    Pictures of cory catfish fry.

I found these pictures in my old computer. They are from a few years ago when I had the 29 and 25 gallon tanks. The gravel is small-actually it's very coarse blasting sand. The darker fish is one of the parents-what species of cory is that one?

    Betta in spotlight pics.

I got this guy today. The effect was created by placing the flash on the glass top-and waited for the fish to get in the right spot.

Can I use lead to weight down corner filter?

I got Lee's corner filter for the 2.5 gal betta tank. If I use gravel to keep it from floating, I have to put so much in there there's not much room for media. What about using lead? Is it safe in the aquarium? If not, what would you recommend? I even tried a couple of small rocks, but it's...

    2.5 gallon tank for betta-cycling Q's.

I took the 2.5 from the garage and set it up in the bedroom. Before I get the betta, should I cycle it? It has gravel and a couple of small rocks. Can a tank of this size without filtration or aeration stay cycled or does it depend on frequent water changes to keep the ammonia levels down?

Should I get red cherry shrimp now?

Someone on my local Craig's list has some for sale now. But the tank is not cycled yet(4 White Clouds in a 20 long). Can I add a couple of red cherries or would that be a bad idea now? I do have a 2.5 gal tank that I could keep them in until the 20 cycles. What do you think?

What I've got done so far.

I've been working on the 20 long this week. I decided not to do the fishless cycle. 4 White Clouds will start it off. The ammonia and nitrite are checked every other day-will do PWCs to keep water from getting too toxic. I painted the back black and covered the paint with contact paper to keep...

How do you deal with power outages?

This question came to mind as I was thinking about last summer. It's a good thing we did not have any aquariums, because Hurricane Ike brought us 2 weeks without electricity. The house was 87 degrees when we went to stay with relatives-would have really heated up the tank. We don't have a...

Is 150 watt heater too much for 20 gallon?

I have a Marineland Neptune 150w heater from a couple of years ago when I had m 29 gal tank. Is it too much for the 20 long? Can I use it or should I get a smaller one?

What about using feeders to cycle a tank?

Hello to everyone. This is my first post and it's been awhile since I've had aquariums(all were freshwater). The new tank is a 20 long. I don't want to do the fishless cycle, so what about a couple of small feeder goldfish? If they die-no problem. And if they live, then I can give them to a fish...
