They get to be about 1 1/2 inches full grown. I have a 30 gallon with fish and the shrimp, the trick is the java moss covers the bottom of the tank to give the shrimp refuge from the fish.

Shipping is still 10.00, it's 10.70 for a medium flat rate box. I take a 70 cent loss. Also, when it starts getting colder I can ship with a heat pack.

The java moss will sit on the bottom of your tank if untethered and the hornwort will float on the top if untethered.

Either should be fine, and you could either let them float or tie them to your drift wood with fishing line.

You can just rinse the plants with dechlorinated water and it will be good to go into your tank. What kind of lights do you have? The hornwort is out growing the java moss in my tanks. As for the java moss, just depends on how much you want.

On my 10 gallon I have two compact florescent twisty bulbs, 26 watts. On my 29 gallon I have two t5 ho bulbs, I think it's 54 watts each so 108 watts. I don't know if you need that much for just java moss, but it grows like crazy with it. I believe if you soak it in bleach for a few minutes...

I have trumpet snails in the tank, so there are chances. Are you just looking for enough to cover the bottom?

I run the sponge on bottom and ceramics on top, on the ac110 I have polyfil in a media bag on top of the ceramics. I just rinse the media in tank water when I do my water changes every week. Never had to use carbon, hopefully won't need to med.

I have a red thai crab( the red clawed guy) and he spends 99% of the time living in the hob filter. Only time he's actually in the tank is when I take the lid off the filter and he jumps in the tank. Not sure of any totally aquatic crabs, not really much help. good luck!

Sometimes you can find canister filters on craigslist for dirt cheap. I got a couple off of there in like new condition for less than the cost of a HOB. Worth a look at least.
