    Water Chemistry Woes

My ammonia is Zero. Perhaps the leftover water in the tank is buffering the water i put in somehow. the Goldfish were there only to cycle the tank. I was going to put in Angelfish, Giant Danios and Bala Sharks.

    Water Chemistry Woes

I have had my 55 Gallon Setup for at least 4 Months. all i have in it are 4 small Goldfish. I've had a MAJOR problem with PH. For all this time, i haven't been able to lower the PH to low enough to read on the kit i have. this means that it's 8.8+. In that time, i have Removed the large ROCK...

    Ph 8.8+

KH is in excess of 300ppm. I have removed the Rock and placed it in a mixing bowl full of tap water. i have removed some of the gravel and put it in a bowl of tap water. I will let you all know the results. BTW, i don't intend to keep Goldfish in the bowl, i was using them to help me cycle the...

    Ph 8.8+

well, there's the Aquarium Gravel that i originally put in and then there's this one rock. the rock is rust colored and looks volcanic. Got it at a Pet store that sold rock by the pound. The rock is VERY hard. Other than that, the only other stuff in the tank were the plants that the Goldfish...

    Ph 8.8+

I've had my 55 Gallon Setup going with 4 Goldfish for about 3 months. Everything is fine with my Water Chemistry except one thing; my PH WILL NOT MOVE. I've tried Ph Down REPEATEDLY. At first, it was simply Tap Water, But i was told that my water might be too hard for it to decrease. Next thing...

Tall 15 gallon tank... need some ideas

Well, I might be the Pariah for saying this, but i would have gotten a few YOUNG Angel Fish. while they're young, they would set the tallness of the tank off. Angel Fish tend to "hang" alot. They don't do alot of forward motion. Neons and Danios would be a poor choice as they need room to swim...

    New Tank Woes. (This Sucks)

    New Tank Woes. (This Sucks)

I've had my 55 Gallon setup for 3 Weeks now. I was trying to cycle the tank with Goldfish. I figure Goldfish are VERY hearty and that they would be great for tank cycling. The First Problem i had was that the PH would NOT lower. Period. I was told here not to worry about that. I was also told...

PH level too high and won't move

I'm still trying to get my 55 Gal Tank ready for fish. My PH level is too high. So high that it's not even on the chart that came with my Kit. For 3 Days i've been adding PH down and it doesn't budge. I've used an Entire 4 oz bottle of the stuff already and now i'm working on an 8 Oz bottle. I'm...

    Reducing PH

I guess i remembered incorrectly. I guess back then i was using the Baking soda to INCREASE the PH. Sorry about this guys. Just ignore this post

    Reducing PH

I've used Baking Soda in the past. Is this still acceptable to reduce PH in new Aquariums?

    Instability with a 55 Gal

The Tank is Level. That's not a problem. When i say that the stand is unstable, i mean that it's not quite as stable as i would like. I don't think it's going to tip, but if someone bumped into it pretty good the water would probably slosh. I also thought that the weight of a 55 Gallon tank...

    Instability with a 55 Gal

I recently purchased a 55 Gallon Tank with Stand. I've kept these before, but i lived elsewhere. I set up the think and filled it. The stand is sitting on Carpet. That's where the problem lies. It's SLIGHTLY Unstable. I can push it and it will rock a little. There's nowhere in the house to put...
