I'm injecting CO2 for my plants though, that's why I bought the fluval, to get rid of surface agitation so the CO2 didn't escape :/

No surface agitation since the HOB is not there anymore, so I know that's why the film has appeared... I just don't know what it is :/ It's not green, it's clear actually. I do partial water changes either every week or every other week...usually 1/4 change for the former and 1/3 to 1/2 change...

I bought a fluval cannister filter about two weeks ago, and since replacing the HOB a film of something has formed on top of the water. any ideas what this is?

I bought a co2 system today, it came with a simple bubble counter and a ceramic diffuser. I have it set to 1 bubble per second, but i'm not seeing anything come out of the diffuser... is something wrong? the only way i see any bubbles come out of the diffuser is if i turn the regulator way...

no meds, just some ferts for plants. So i don't need carbon at all eh? so i could just use that level for more ceramic rings?

for my 36 bowfront. It comes with 2 carbon bags for 1 level, biological media for the 2nd level, and more bio media for the 3rd level. Do you ever need to replace the bio media? I mean does it break down over time or anything? I am guessing there are 2 levels of it for that specific reason, so...

So my first fish died (only been in hobby since Jan). Was making some changes to the tank, so I had moved all the fish to a temp. 10 gallon, came back 10-15 mins later and there he was dead on the ground. He must have jumped out, he was my favorite too :(

I was doing a DIY co2 but I didn't notice a different in plant growth so I don't think it's mixing into the water well enough, and i have a HOB filter so there's probably too much surface agitation?

it's a 35g bowfront, t5ho 36w, it's got ~5 plants, and once in a while i dose nutrients (i haven't for a couple weeks tho) - would dosing help or hurt?

yes it's a t8, i just gave you guys exactly what the bulb/fixture had on them. it hasn't been modified or anything, it came with the tank (new), but i have the new fixture now so it's all good :D

before i make a batch, i was wondering if by putting the diffuser/airstone directly under the intake of my HOB filter will help diffuse the CO2 even more? Also, is my HOB filter going to agitate the surface too much and let too much CO2 escape? I've read that this is a concern but I'm hoping...
