    So it appears as though the ich spots are gone from all the fish, how long should I keep the salt/heat treatment going for? I have read 3 days to 3 weeks. I was thinking about a week.

    Thanks, I do know salt does not evaporate. I am not sure I can get Pimafix locally, but I can probably pick up a bottle of melaleuca and make my own melafix. So if the dosage of salt is 1tsp per gallon, then I have 1 extra tsp per 5 gallons, will this harm the fish?

    Update...I am pretty sure ich is still present in the tank, although not as bad as before but that is because most of the fish that were covered in it are dead. Now one fish has a fungus, as well as a few ich spots remaining. Obviously the ich attack is not working as it is supposed to prevent...

    Substrate Question

    Has anyone used kitty litter for their planted tanks? I was looking for information or feedback from people who used it, is it safe for the fish? I am aware there is substrate designed for the planted aquarium, but I live in a remote area and it is hard to come across.

    Sorry I should have mentioned that I did remove all carbon from the filter, and found a missing kuhli at the same time, and also increased air stones in the tank. The water level is below the filter to create surface agitation. I am changing 1/3 of the water daily now, should I increase that...
