Zebra danios. Not super pretty but super easy to care for and fun to watch! Also easy to breed, do a water change and keep that water--sure to have fry in it. I've raised many this way.

Also neons and zebra danios are schooling fish and will not be completely happy or in their prime unless you put them in a group of 6 or more. Just another thought.

I do know the neons I have owned lose their color and drop to the bottom at night. good luck with them and him. Danios are active and swim at the top so may be ok. If everyone is in constant stress or danger though I don't view it as a good plan. Just me.

Zebras are a schooling fish and need more than 3 to thrive. Also they are super easy to breed.

Also neons are a schooling fish. Fine for a 10 gal but danios tend to be nippy and may stress the neons out. I suggest reading about what you want and can do and taking back what you cant handle. Everyone will be better and happier in the long run, including yourself.
