Well it depends, what tank is it in? what are its tank mates? and what are the water parameters?

My lights are at 6 hours now, it comes off easy and i get rid of it every week via a water change, but its always back the week after.

but if the lights are the problem, won't turning them off and getting rid of the algae only get rid of them until i go back to the same light again after. It will just come back

so yes i did dose excel once..... but is this melting? to me it more looks like they are shrinking, and then chunks are just falling off( i just find them in the filter intake or floating on top). Im not sure, any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

hmm well thats a sign its not eating, make sure you are adding enough food for both of them, they will for surely not survive on just tank algae alone.

well it tough to keep lots of them because they eat the algae in the tai really fast! so 2 is a better number IMO as there is more food to go around then.
