    my planted tanks

sorry, i forgot to include the nitrate levels. They are both the same, between 5 and 10 ppm- this seems really low? i did do about 50% wc on both tanks about 5 days ago, this was to get rid of some debris and make sure the water was clean.

    DIY co2 advice

Hey all, i set up a diy co2 system, and for a diffuser i used an internal filter which i just rigged to chop up the co2. it does make some noise, but overall i don't mind. I attached a video so you can see the fine burst of bubbles that shoots out into the tank. The bursts of small bubbles are...

    tank issue

but if the lights are the problem, won't turning them off and getting rid of the algae only get rid of them until i go back to the same light again after. It will just come back

    Diatoms? or......?

The tank is 18 inches tall- however there is a good 4 inches of gravel (not positive, i have to remeasure in the morning). There is definite algae on some of the ciliata leaves (as you can kinda see in the last photo) as for the "stuff"- on the gravel it is definitely loose, and forms small...

    tank issue

Not to be rude, but i think its hard to miss the issue. There is algae everywhere, especially closest to where the lighting is. So at this point I'm assuming the culprit is the lighting. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure water sprite is fast growing. In fact i have had it before and it grows...

    tank issue

Hey all, this is my 15gal tank and after about 2 weeks I'm having some major algae issues. The lighting is what ever came with the set up, which is just one 20W light that attaches to the top of the hood. I have never really had issues the algae in this tank because it was only 20W but I'm...

    Diatoms? or......?

Hey all, this is my 33 gal tank that i have had running and cycled for probably a year or so now. In it is one figure 8 puffer and 2 knight gobies. The fish are doing well but i am noticing a LOT of debris all over the plants and gravel and I'm not sure what the cause is. At first i thought it...

    plant acclimation

Hey all, i was curious on more information on plants acclimation to replanting. I noticed my vallisneria often drop many leaves and look terrible in my tank when i plant them, and it take over a month for them to acclimate and grow back strong. Is this normal?

    red eyed puffer help

Hey all, so this weekend i had a family friend that told me about a young kid that bought a red eye puffer (at least I'm pretty sure thats what it is)- and he was keeping it in a small generic fish bowl. Luckily i was able to convince him to let me buy it from him, as it looked really sick and i...

    dying plants? help!

    dying plants? help!

Im using fluorite premium substrate, not dosing ferts - although i added some excel a few weeks ago but stopped as i heard vals reacted poorly to them-so i only added one dose. I also add a generic supplement that has a variety of supplements in it- i think its an api brand. Im not dosing co2...

    dying plants? help!

Hey all, just over a month ago i added some vals to my tank. They were tall, green, healthy mature plants and over the month they have slowly began to wither away and i don't know enough about plants to figure out why. I attached a picture to hopefully get some suggestions as to why I'm seeing...

    feeding otos

hmm well thats a sign its not eating, make sure you are adding enough food for both of them, they will for surely not survive on just tank algae alone.
  24. P

    feeding otos

well it tough to keep lots of them because they eat the algae in the tai really fast! so 2 is a better number IMO as there is more food to go around then.
