    wellso not opening.

I've had this guy for a few months recently a yellow dwarf angel has been "kicking" sand up on it and now it doesn't open during the day at all even though the angel hasn't been so mean lately. At night it hyperinflates, I have never seen its sweepers and neither had the guy I got it from...

    3rd week cycling... Readings???

I guess, I never realized there was a second tank to deal with, or had forgotten about it, anyhow @jonnypro, what i'm reading is that you only used what was on the uncured lr as your ammonia source? it's very possible that it wasnt enough to finish your cycle, and you need to add a raw shrimp...

    cloudy water

I have done it before setting up a qt,was never an issue it would be cloudy for a couple hrs max, pretty sure I did it 2 yrs ago when I originally set up the tank. That is why I was concerned but there is a first time for everything and I thank the community for coming to my aid, and basically...

    cloudy water

When I tested my salinity last night it was only at 1.023 and I typically run 1.025, so I added another 1/3 cup and it was definitely clearing up by time i finished getting ready for bed and is crystal clear like it should be. Sorry If I seemed short with anyone, stressful week with the move...

    cloudy water

It has been a sw tank for 2 yrs, I moved so I took my qt over to a friends house set it up, 30gal of freshly made water was clear within 2 hrs, I waited 2 days while it continued to mix. Brought lr, sand, and livestock over. Cleaned my dt, no soap, rinsed wiped down, rinsed 2xs and moved here...

    cloudy water

I am not trying to get it to cycle, I have 35-40lbs of lr in another tank that I will transfer over with the fish and inverts. I am not transporting all 30 gallons of water, trying to set up this tank with freshly made water and the cloudiness has me too concerned to add fish, in case it's...

    cloudy water

There's nothing in it to be cycling the water is a day old and no ammonia source. What would be starting the cycle? The rock in there has been dry for 2 yrs and is only in the tank to hold my plastic grate down.

    cloudy water

I have never had my new water foam before, all my lr is with the fish in the qt at a friends house It appears as it may still be clearing up? Just very slowly... I may try to drop some rowa phos in, in the morning depending on how it looks. I wonder if I added the salt too fast and this is...

    cloudy water

I just noticed that it's creating some foam in the back... And is starting to smell like the goldfish bowl I had as a child. That's the foam under the clearish plastic handle.

    cloudy water

They're in another tank doing fine so I have pretty much as much time as needed and usually give my water a few days after mixing before using, but I know it's usually clear fairly quickly. I don't want to be waiting on this for a few days and still have to toss it to start the process over...

    Nicole's 29g Reef Build

Yes it can be done, but you must do a great job using your vac to remove all the detritus that will build up. If you slack it will cause problems in a short amount of time.

    cloudy water

I just moved, I have my livestock in my qt at a friends house to make everything a little less stressful. I drained wiped (with my fish towels that never see soap) and rinsed my dt (jbj 28 nano). I refilled the tank yesterday morning and the water is still very cloudy this afternoon (red Sea...

You are going to want some form of physical filtration to help collect the larger particles you will have in your water column.

    Doug's 250, now 300, in wall build

I finally got over my algae issue (7 month battle) by doing 15%pwc every 3-4 days and scrubbing the infested lr in new sw. Hope your fight goes better!

    Doug's 250, now 300, in wall build

Wow that's some serious algae! Do you have a hospital tank you can drop your coral into? If it were me I'd do that and shut off my lights for a while. Then continue with pwcs, and scrub.
