    Eunicid Worms or...?

That worm was bigger than his dog!

    Eunicid Worms or...?

Still kicking myself over introducing live rock that was not completely cured. I have a plague of these worms in my tank - I estimate 25 - 50 of them. I thought they were eunicid worms but now I'm not entirely sure. I think that worm family covers hundreds of worms so Idk. I tried manually...

Doug's 105 rimless build and diary

I agree with everyone who said to try trapping it. Not many people would waste their cat because it clawed up the brand new couch and enjoys shredding their furniture - although somebody probably would. I guess you could argue that a fish is a lower life form than a cat and you'd get all...

    Mother Lode of Hitchhikers :(

I book marked that link and am interested in trying the same thing. Thanks so much. I'm going to order the magnesium. If it doesn't blow over, I think it's going to get ugly. Pic 2 - I found 2 in the sump and one in the display. No shell that I can see. They are surprisingly fast.

    Mother Lode of Hitchhikers :(

I agree it's cool to see life instantly but I'm running scared on the bryopsis prospect. I can easily see this overtaking the tank is short order. I've skimmed through other people's ordeals with this stuff and it sounds rotten. I don't have a large clean up crew and what I have ignores it...

    Mother Lode of Hitchhikers :(

Think I hit the mother lode of unwanted hitchhikers this time around. I think I'm screwed. Set up a 90G tank. Went to the LFS for some interesting pieces of live rock to round out what I had. The cured rock was completely picked over. Feeling adventurous, I selected a few pieces of uncured...

    Odd advice needed

I wish you and your daughter the best! In your position, I would get a 30 gallon plastic garbage can with a lid - maybe with wheels to get it out of the way if needed. I would premix your saltwater and toss in a power head and that's that. When we went on vacation last summer, I had family...

Doug's 105 rimless build and diary

Oh Jesus, I'm so sorry. Sounds like radiation poisoning, like they were hit with a freaking nuke or something. I'm sure you'd rather forget this so I'm done with my questions :(

Doug's 105 rimless build and diary

For the heck of it, I googled some of the things you were considering. No doubt you've already viewed similar results. However, the slime coat and rapid deaths seem consistent with Brooklynella - looks like that is a hard hitter, can kill within hours and can be carried in by anything 'wet' such...

Doug's 105 rimless build and diary

I'm sorry this happened. It's a shame. I was curious about something you posted earlier in the thread. You mentioned a BB sized brown lesion on the chin of one of your fish and wondered if it bumped an anemone. Do you think that lesion was related to this disease/parasite?

Wow, that nuts! Glad you caught it.

    90G Starry Blenny Tank Build

Good to know! Did you specifically feed your serpent star or did it find enough to eat around the tank?

    90G Starry Blenny Tank Build

Not sure! Live aquaria lists them as peaceful but what happens after the lights go out may be another story. I think they are scavengers and opportunistic feeders rather than predatory stalkers. Maybe someone who has one can chime in. I would like to hear someone's experience before I bought one...

    90G Starry Blenny Tank Build

Thanks :) I think I'm going to stick to a few peaceful nano sized fish for now. Everything is being built around this one fish so aggressive fish are out. I'm probably going to focus more on the inverts and coral for a long time. I do want a serpent starfish. I thought this video was cool:

    90G Starry Blenny Tank Build

My blenny is about 4.5 inches. It's the most comical fish - tons of personality in that little body. Glad you have one too! They're awesome fish. Steal away! I was inspired to do this by other people's builds and combined different ideas from various builds into something that worked for my...

    90G Starry Blenny Tank Build

My starry blenny is currently living in a 24G nanocube. I'm building a 90G tank to upgrade his digs. This build began last summer and it's taking me forever but I'm finally getting there. I'm also interested in rehoming my Hollywood stunner chalice, which is getting to be a real monster in size...

    Possible Hitchhiker ID's

First pic reminds me of a ball anemone. I have a few but they are different colors - red and orange. They live among my mushroom corals and have remained harmless for a few years. Might try to google pseudocorynactis or ball anemone or corynactis and see what you think. In my case, they have...

    Lighting and Plumbing Questions

I guess the point that I'm not making well is that if there are phosphates in the rock, this would promote algae growth more efficiently than other (live) rock might. I would expect there are free floating spores of all algae types in most reef aquariums. If not from the rock, from coral frags...

    Lighting and Plumbing Questions

Idk either. The LFS was one source for this information. I understand that LFS are a wealth of misinformation and sales driven but the place that I go to is owned by a marine biology major. His tanks at the store are beautiful and well maintained (a good indication to me that they know their...

    Lighting and Plumbing Questions

Thanks for the input. Hadn't thought of acetone and sandpaper sounds like the way to go. I have a question about marco rock. I bought a few pieces for aquascaping. I have live rock from a nanocube that I'm going to seed it with. I've been warned that phosphates will leach into the system and I...
