Long time no post. I've been playing musical aquariums and just traded my 30gal hex for a 46gal bowfront. :wave: BTW, am I the only one that keeps trading tanks, trying new things? How do you just slap yourself & be satisfied w/ what you have?? :silly: I would LOVE to do discus in the 46gal...

I'd like to move the taller plants to the back/sides, but I'm wondering if it's possible to do that without creating a mess since there is potting soil under the sand. Any hints/ideas?

Please remove the pleco before you add the betta. I had otos in w/ bettas and they had to be moved to a new tank because they would "snack" on the betta's slime coat. Not all algae eaters do it, but in a 3gal there's nowhere for the betta to get away.

The sand came with the tank when I bought it. I later found out it's not the best substrate for live plants, but it is good for the dojo loach & the corys, so I guess it's a tie. I'm wondering if I would have better luck with "potted" plants.

Water parameters are always 0 for nitrates/nitrites/ammonia. pH is 7.4. I've tried fish both from PetsMart & from an LFS, w/ no perceptible difference in survival rate.
