    London

I'm in London, just moved. If I can get a FT job I'll definitely be looking to keep fish.

    Getting kribs to breed

Like a lot of fish, they're not gonna breed instantly. They'll need time to condition for breeding, realise they want to breed with the other krib and pick out a spot. Live foods to condition them. Also give them a cave which has one entrance to defend and a roof (they lay eggs on the roof).

    bettas and mollies

My mollies wound my Betta up, which is ironic because when I bought him from the shop he'd been in a tank with balloon mollies and had munched the tails of a few before being separated.

    Breeding Cories

Probably more likely to grow fungus when unfertilized.

You don't even need to boil them, you can just put them under a hot tap and deshell them.

    breeding neon tera

Where I'm from the water is naturally very soft because the land is just thick with peat.

    Cross breeding gouramis??

Need a clearer picture. Honey Gourami's can be tough to sex. Oftentimes one is advised to "buy three and hope there's a pair". Some help otherwise: Females: Usually larger and plumper, honey's have a brown horizontal stripe, short rounded dorsal fin Males: Long pointed dorsal fin, smaller and...

    Cross breeding gouramis??

Well, alrighty then! You've probably read a lot about the hardness/softness/acidity/alkalinity etc etc etc and also the preparation (separate the male and female, NEVER add the female after the male etc)... Well I'm here to tell you that the common advice did not work for me. I haven't even...

    Cross breeding gouramis??

I can give you a blurb about how I got my dwarf's to breed if you'd like.

    Cleaning out my nursery tank

My one wasn't great, but in small tanks algae can bloom at an extraordinary rate if you don't keep on top of it. They're only small AND they can get territorial so if the tank is small perhaps they are not the best option. You might consider getting an apple snail, as sometimes they're so...

    Cross breeding gouramis??

They're definitely different I'm afraid Cichild. A pair of breedable H. Gourami's are like this: What you have is a Red/Red Neon Dwarf:

    Are these eggs?

Yeah, if it's small white-ish eggs suspended in a jelly... it's snail eggs. I had the same reaction when I thought that I had good eggs, sadly!

    New Honey Gromies!!!

Isn't the one of the left a Red Gourami, and the right is a honey gourami? EDIT: yeah, you have two different kinds by the looks of things red gourami - Google Search...

    Cleaning out my nursery tank

Aglae in itself shouldn't be a huge bother if you keep the water clean. You could: Take it away from direct sunlight or bright lights; cover it with gravel or sand so it dies off; clean it with a toothbrush. Also, you could have a small plec in your tank like a Hong Kong Pleco. They're about...

Balloon Molly fry are growing slow

Feed them more often, and on high protein foods like puttied egg yolk if they're tiny, moving on to daphnia and bloodworm.

    Terrapin advice

So I work for Environmental Health in Scotland and one part of the job is searching through houses and apartments for drugs/needles after a suspected user has either died, moved out or gone to prison. One house we did yesterday had a Terrapin in it. Still living, which surprised me, although the...

    Pleco food

My pleco won't eat anything other than algae and general debris. I put down stuff all the time, he just ignores it, whether it's raw or cooked. Bleedin' primadonna! He still managed to make enourmously long poo's across the floor of the tank.

    Tiger barbs

A lot of fish follow a similar kind of pattern for breeding and tiger barbs are not much different: Separate the males and females into two tanks and feed them on live foods. Tubiflex worms works best I've heard but bloodworm will also be fine. After 3-4 days you can reintroduce them. The...

How do you know if Gourami's have bred?

Well I haven't seen a baby for a few days despite still feeding them and changing the water in the big tank. I didn't think that they'd survive the first round anyway. Better luck next time for me!

How do you know if Gourami's have bred?

Is that necessary in a larger tank? This tank is half full of water and is 3ft by 1 by 1. It's fairly large. / I'm just worried about adding water which kills them.

How do you know if Gourami's have bred?

Goodness! Gourami fry are utterly minuscule! How often to feed them liquid food?

Rams Laid Eggs, what to do?

Are you sure you've got the genders the right way around? It's just that it's the male that does the chasing while the female guards, according to I think nearly everything I've read. Interesting if it's the other way around though!

How do you know if Gourami's have bred?

I have a wee 3 gal tank running to shift the new borns temporarily while they grow.
