Stocking ideas for 20 gallon long?

Hi guys, I'm working on fixing up my old tank. Currently it's down to 4 neon tetras (was originally 8), and once it's all cleaned up I'm going to add another 3-5. It's a 20 gallon long tank with sand, and an Aqueon 30 (200gph) filter. What are some other fish ideas? I'm considering something...

Stocking ideas for a 20 gallon long?

I have a 20 gallon long tank that currently only has 4 neon tetras (the rest died a while ago). I used to have a school of corys, more neon tetras, and a german blue ram, but the corys dropped like flies (bad stock) and the GBR died of what I could only guess was hexemita. I'm thinking of...

    Sick neon tetras, still!

Several months ago I posted a problem about my neon tetras. Two of them had a pinkish color, and the blue and red was faded, almost like when they go for a while in the dark and then you turn on the light. One of them died, and I put the other in a hang on quarintine box. He seemed fine other...

Peaceful centerpiece fish for 20g long tropical

Thanks for the suggestions, this thread is actually from 2010 though. I ended up with a German Blue Ram, which I highly recommend. They are very quirky and colorful little fish.

Neon tetra losing color, no other symptoms

Anyone? i'd like to get a new fish tonight, and since I haven't seen any new or bad symptoms other than the color change, I will take the chance unless anyone has a reason not too.

    Stocking 28 bowfront

After you cycle, I would start with the guppies, then platys, then either school of tetras, then the other school, and lastly the DG. Introduce them slowly so you don't get a mini cycle.

Neon tetra losing color, no other symptoms

I have a school of 5 neon tetras in my 20 long tank. I about a week ago that one of them has a tanish/pinkish face, and the color faded off the front half of it. It's almost what they look like after the light is turned off all night, but the lights have been on for several hours. There are no...

Plants for 10 gal. low/mid light

I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 14 watt CFL's, I think the color temp is 5000k, but not positive. I'm not quite sure what this would be considered, lighting wise. I have some type of Liquid fertilizer that I don't currently use, and sand substrate, but nothing else. I want to go pick up some...

    Stocking 28 bowfront

The german blue rams can be pretty delicate, just a warning. For final stock I would say something like: 3 male or female platy 2 guppies 6 neon tetras 6 black neons 1 GBR Someone can chime in on that to make sure it sounds ok.

    Stocking 28 bowfront

Is this your first tank? Only asking because some fish are more delicate than others. I mentioned dwarf gouramis above, and along the same lines there are honey gouramis and pearl gouramis. It would be best to pick one of these, and just keep one male. I've heard mixed reports on their...

    Stocking 28 bowfront

Like mollies and platys, swords have a pretty big bioload. I personally prefer to avoid them because they look almost exactly like platys, but they are larger and males obviously have a swordtail. I would replace the platys with the swords if you really prefer them, 3-4 female or 3 male swords...

    Cory cats dying?!

I've had the corys about 2 weeks. I got five, one died after 24 hours. The neons look fine, colorful and active.

    Cory cats dying?!

I used the melafix about three weeks ago before I got the corys to treat a neon tetra with a nipped tail. I haven't used anything else since then. I've been feeding Omega One flakes.

    Cory cats dying?!

Today I went to do a pwc and one of my cory cats was dead and stuck to the filter. About 20 minutes after removing the dead cory cat and doing the pwc, I went back to the tank. One of my other corys was having trouble swimming. He was floating all around the tank and trying to swim, but all he...

Would 2 rams be too much for a 20g?

I would also prefer a pair. I'm just nervous about aggression towards each other and the corys. Thanks.

Would 2 rams be too much for a 20g?

I have a 20 gallon long tank, with 5 cory cats and 5 neon tetras (I'll probably get 2-3 more neons). I use to have a German Blue Ram, but he died. Could I get a male/female pair for the tank, or would that be too much? What about 2 females?

Endler breeders, help with a few questions

I have a 10 gallon tank with a trio of peacock endlers and a few juveniles. I've only had them for a few months, but I was interested in getting a few new varieties, like tiger endlers, chili endlers or orchid endlers. Could I have different types of endlers in the same tank without messing up...

Can different cory cat species breed?

I have 5 cory cats, and 4 are juliis. The 5th one looks like a mix between a julii and a bronze cory. It has a brown head and bronze stripe all around the head at the eyes, but after that it is spotted like the juliis. The black on it's top fin doesn't completely cover the top like the other's...

    New sand and corys :)

Thanks, I love the sand too. It looks so much neater then the gravel did. The corys are so cute, under my mopani wood there's a little indent in the sand and they like to dogpile up in it.

    New sand and corys :)

I got some black sand to replace my gravel on Monday, and yesterday I picked up 5 julii cory cats. I couldn't get any solid pictures, but here are a few.
