    Evening and moonlight LEDs

I have the cabomba carolina(?) I think. I added a 36 in. t5 HO single bulb with a coralife flora sun 39w in it to bring the wattage up a bit and promote photosynthesis. Does that make my light range between low to medium? And will I be needing a co2 injector then? Right now I am dosing my plants...

    Evening and moonlight LEDs

Thanks for the link Big Jim! I am currently using a 36 in. Marineland double bright LED fixture for my 40H with anubias, java fern, java moss, red wendii, and cobomba in it. I wonder if I should add more light or if this is enough light for these plants.

    Removing fries from main tank

Well this is the first time that I have fries and I am going to ask the lfs that I frequent if they would buy them from me. I would like to place them and their parents in my 10 gallon holding tank, but netting is going to be quite a challenge I think. I'll probably suction them and net the...

    Removing fries from main tank

My jewel cichlids have spawned and there are lots of fries! Wondering what's another alternative to removing these fries aside from netting them? Would suctioning them with a 5/8 in. hose work?

    Mouth brooding???

Thanks for the advice guys. I do have a 10 gal QT tank, but I think I'll let them spit out in the 75 gal tank. The fries will be hybrids and I don't really intend to keep or sell them. If they survive then they are lucky and if they look nice then I might keep them.

    Mouth brooding???

So you don't sell any that are starting to show a little bit if they are males or females? I was able to fortunately get a Mac red face peacock that is about an inch or over that you can definitely tell that it is a male. I'll post a picture of it when I get a chance to take a shot. Are you...

    Mouth brooding???

LOL!!! Thanks again. I'll try when I do my next pwc. As for the lights trick that is a good idea. They sure look very disoriented when it first comes on. However, I get disoriented with the bright lights too, haha! Speaking of selling the fries, I don't know if I will. How much are you...

    Mouth brooding???

Thanks. Wish me luck in netting the holding female since I had difficulty catching the other one the last time. They hide behind the rocks and, unless I remove the rocks, I don't think it's possible to net them. Maybe then it would be time to clean behind those rocks. It's been a while since...

    Mouth brooding???

Found another cichlid holding. My powder blue socolofi turned out to be a female. Well, will see if these fries survive this time.

    Mouth brooding???

LATEST UPDATE... After dinner, I decided to give my 75G cichlid tank a thorough scrutiny and, as I was looking under the hollow log, I found a little yellow cichlid fry! My kids are so excited and happy to see it and they can't wait to see it grow. Hopefully this one will survive the...

    not sure

speaking of fish personalities the african cichlids have as much personality as the south/central american ones imho. i've had oscars before too and watching these slow moving fish is just boring! i guess it all depends on each person's preference. :)

Glow in the Dark Cichlid's ?

Glow fish, tattooed fish, and now glow in the dark cichlids? Some people will do anything to make a profit.

    not sure

A mixture of male African cichlids. I have a 75g and I just love watching my cichlids - all 29 males and 1 female - interact with each other. They are males of different species so they do not look alike. The female, a yellow lab, was a mistaken identity. I originally thought it was a male...
