    Recommend Me a 55-Gallon (48") Stand

The only style of stand that seems to accommodate 55-gallon aquariums (there's a bunch for bigger or smaller tanks... is 55 an oddball size?) is the Classic Pine series. From the picture, that one looks way too thin in the depth direction to fit a larger canister filter. Heck, it looks like...

    Recommend Me a 55-Gallon (48") Stand

I'd love an Aqueon stand, but I was under the impression that they don't sell one for a 55-gallon with one, unified cabinet interior. If I'm wrong, could you please link me to one that'd work for me?

    Recommend Me a 55-Gallon (48") Stand

Ok, those look nice but that's a bit too expensive for my budget.

    Recommend Me a 55-Gallon (48") Stand

New requirement: - Stand must be commercially available. I'm fine if the stand requires some assembly from a kit, but I'm not building one from scratch.

    Recommend Me a 55-Gallon (48") Stand

I'm buying a 55-gallon (48") aquarium, so I'll need a stand. Someone, please recommend me a solid stand for this size tank. Requirements: - I'd like it to have one, large interior space for housing the canister filter and other accessories. Two cabinet doors. - It'd be nice if the stand had a...

    AquaClear 50 Footprint

I'd rather not saw into my lid. I don't consider this to be an option. I saw that, actually, but I assumed that was the dimensions of the box that the filter comes in. Granted, that's somewhat useful, but I'd rather know the actual measurements of the filter, if possible.

    AquaClear 50 Footprint

I'm looking to upgrade from a Marineland Penguin 150 to an AquaClear 50 on my Marineland 20-gallon high aquarium. However, before I buy the new filter, I need to make sure it will in the lid cut-out on my tank. Could anyone please provide the footprint measurements for the AquaClear 50 HOB...

    Easiest breeding fish (NON-livebearer)?

Kribs get to be 4" right? The reason I was thinking of GBRs is because they're something like half that size and I do realize that I'm working with a smallish-medium tank. From what you've described, it sounds like Kribs are nearly as prolific as guppies in the breeding department. That's...

    Easiest breeding fish (NON-livebearer)?

Were you confused by my GBR acronym? GBR stands for German Blue Ram. There's an Electric Blue Ram which is a color variant strain of the GBR.

    Easiest breeding fish (NON-livebearer)?

I assume JD means Jack Dempsey? Yeah, I know those don't fit in a 20-gallon tank. I wasn't planning on trying those at all. I've already got an RCS tank. I'm looking to breed fish.

    Easiest breeding fish (NON-livebearer)?

I’ve got a 20-gallon tank which currently houses some guppies (all females, so no breeding there). In fact, those female guppies are the product of a batch of fry from almost exactly a year ago. It was really fun last year to raise the babies, and I’d like to do that again. However, guppies (and...

    RCS + Gravel Vac

I've got an RCS tank that has quite the colony going. Therefore, the ground of the tank is covered in RCS. When I say covered, I don't mean wall-to-wall, but there are certainly a lot. So, does anyone have any tips on how to vaccum the gravel and not suck up half of my RCS colony?

    Python-type siphon, but metal

I currently use a Python-type siphon (the Aqueon one) for my weekly PWC routine. However, I find the plastic to be a bit flimsy. I've already broken the faucet adapter twice (where it screws in). Is there a more robust siphon alternative? Perhaps the exact same thing, but made out of metal on...

    Guppy Gender Change?

That makes a lot of sense.

    Guppy Gender Change?

I wonder if it is only possible for young guppies. My females did have males around when they were young - just not anymore.

    Guppy Gender Change?

Hmm, interesting. Well, I guess my females like being females.

    Nano Fish

Even with all of the RCS I've got? I have something like 12 adult RCS and another 40 babies!
  18. J

    Nano Fish

Are any of these fish under 1" long? It is a 5-gallon tank, so even a 1-2" fish is probably too big (considering it would be sharing its home with RCS).

    Nano Fish

I should specify that I'd like the nano fish to be a mid-to-top swimmer, as the bottom of the tank is the domain of my RCS. The idea behind this nano fish addition is to make the tank interesting at all levels. However, it is a small tank. Therefore, I don't want a species that I'd need more...

    Guppy Gender Change?

I'm no expert, but I don't believe that's possible (for either gender). I have a species-only female guppy tank and a community tank where the only guppies are males. You'd think that if they could change gender, they would have in either of those tanks.

    Nano Fish

I'm looking for a recommendation for a nano fish species. The smaller, the better, because I want to put it in a tank with red cherry shrimp. Nano fish needs: - Unable to eat adult RCS - Roughly 1", or smaller (5-gallon tank) - Non-schooler - Mid-to-top swimmer (to not interfere with RCS) -...

    New Cichlid Tank

But, would the yellow labs work with either of the other two?

    New Cichlid Tank

I'm thinking of setting up a large tank (75-90 gallons) for cichlids. My problem is that I can't pick which type! I like: - Angelfish - Yellow labs - Rams Is there any chance that even two of those three could work together? All (constructive) thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

    Caring for a Clown Pleco

I got a clown pleco about two months ago from a very good LFS. He looked a little rough when I got him, but he was the last one so I took a chance. Sadly, he died within about two weeks. So, about two weeks ago I got another one from the same place (this time they had plenty that all looked...

    Best Fish Food?

What's the best fish food, in your opinion, for a tropical freshwater community tank? This would be the daily food for a tank that houses: neon tetras, guppies, cories, amano shrimp, an angelfish, a swordtail, a gbr, an oto, and a clown pleco. Currently, they're fed tropical fish flakes (I...
