    180g In Wall Construction

my YT developed black ich once out of nowhere, about 6 monhts after i originally purchased him. Fortunately the sixline wrasse decided to do some cleaning on the YT and removed all of the ich. The YT would follow the sixline around the tank and then hover, waiting for him to pick the ich off...

    Auto topoff setup documented (w/pics)

That would cycle the pump too much, thus reducing the life of the pump.

    Auto topoff setup documented (w/pics)

I personally would use two float switches to control the water flowing in. The lower one would contol turning the pump on and once the upper switch is activated, the pump would turn off. This would keep the pump from running many times a day. You could still set it up with a dripper if you...

how do you keep air out of your cpr overflow

yes, that is correct. But remember, water will still siphon through the return through your pump unless you have a check valve installed. Mine drains about an inch from the tank when this happens. I have a 1/8" hole drilled in the return pipe, right under the water line as a siphon break. Jim

how do you keep air out of your cpr overflow

well, that's the negative part of using a powerhead to clear the bubbles. Salttanker - The floatswitch is mounted in the main tank. Your sump should be able to handle the water that siphons from the tank in a worst case scenario. Jim

how do you keep air out of your cpr overflow

worst case scenario right now, if the power goes out for more than about 30 seconds (the time it takes to siphon enough water out of the CPR, so that it fills with air and breaks the siphon), then the pump will cycle on and off as the water level increases and decreases as the float switch...

how do you keep air out of your cpr overflow

i have a maxijet in my sump that has a hose connected to the venturi. I use the pump to initially start the siphon and then i turn the pump off and the air just siphons out. In case the power goes out, i have a float switch that will turn off the main pump in case the water gets too high Jim

    Is this bad?

hey...ummmm that's not cool at all. I'm surprised that titanium would pop like that. Had it been running in the tank for a week? I could see thermal shock doing that toa heater, but not normal usage. I'd take it back to the store that you bought it from.

    STRESSED OUT

Well if that was the case, I would force myself to install a float switch with a level sensor and shutoff. Or, if you typically know how long it takes to fill, set the timer on your stove or microwave so at least it can remind you to look. Jim

    STRESSED OUT

When i turn on the RO to refill the sump I force myself to sit there watching it until it fills to the line. Otherwise I'll forget it's going and wander around....

    Electricity question

I have a float switch connected to a relay which controls my main pump from the sump. If the water level is too high in the display, the float switch is activated, and closes the relay. This is just in case the cpr fails for some reason. I don't think that cpr's handle power outages well, but...
