    Noob!

Just the tube itself is helping provide oxygen but an airstone is a much better source. I'm sure you can get one at walmart or something for a buck or two. Honestly if you get an "O" ring for your pump real soon I wouldn't worry about it, the water should be fine...Welcome to AA btw!

    Paranoid about glass

I'm on my 5th glass tank and I've never even heard of anyone's breaking, let alone mine. Just my two cents!

    Lighting fixtures

Just my two cents but, are you sure you want to go HO? I have a 55 chiclid tank and I use an HE, plenty of light and a whole lot cheaper. If you have your heart set go for it and forget I said anything...lol

    Sick Goldfish

A fish being lethargic can mean a few different things. Look for white spots on him(maybe Ick, common). Do a search online with whatever you notice odd. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Without more info a diagnosis is incredibly hard. Welcome to AA!

    Tv stand hold a 75g ?

Alot of old T.V. stands were made to hold alot of weight. Some of those T.V.'s were extreemly heavy, but a 75g tank full with water and accessories will be over 700 lbs. If I were you i'd just make sure you had exact measurements for tank and stand. Most wont be big enough for a tank that size...

    Will it Stand?

This has been going around for a few days. Build a Strong, Inexpensive Aquarium Stand « Random Bits of Projects For the price of fixing that thing you can make a much better and probably more inexpensive stand. To me those legs just don't look sturdy. Reinforce all you want but if you have...

T-5 lighting for the 55 gallon

I just bought this light, love it and wasn't too expensive. I also have a 55g FW. Solarmax 48" T5HE 2x28w Aquarium Strip Tank Light w/LED - eBay (item 160534869382 end time Feb-18-11 13:39:22 PST)

HOB 55 gal filter(s) best choice.

Where you place the tubes for a cannister filter isn't going to matter, thats just for looks. I'm pretty sure all HOB filters need about the same space, 3-4". If moving the tank is a problem then a cannister might be your best option.

    Aquariums

Welcome to AA. I honestly haven't heard of that type of tank. I'm gonna assume your not in the states as well (haha). My only advice is gonna be on size, just make sure you don't go to big to start with but enough tank where your not overwhelmed. I started with a 20g long years ago and it was...

    Thanks for the welcome!

FW cichlid tank. Maybe when I have time I might switch over to salt but it would be a completely different thing for me. Thats down the road though. I got some good advice here in my other post but I'm gonna go with a wet/dry system. Buying one today, soon as I can get ahold of this one guy...

Wet/dry or cannister for 55g fresh?

Got another question. Looked up a couple things and was wondering if these two items would be good for my tank. 3 STAGE EXTERNAL CANISTER AQUARIUM FILTER w/ 9 WATT UV - eBay (item 290474163600 end time Feb-07-11 11:51:12 PST) Maxi-Jet 1200 Power Head, 295gph by Aquarium Systems - AquaCave...

Wet/dry or cannister for 55g fresh?

Thanks for the input. I found a wet/dry that will fit pretty well, leave 4 inches on the long side and 2 inches on top, side doesn't matter much, open in the back. From what alot of people have told me, sellers, as long as I have enough room to get to the filter pad thats all that matters. I...

Wet/dry or cannister for 55g fresh?

I've been reading the forums and it seems that some people think cannister filters get a little disgusting when not cleaned on a regular basis. I don't plan on neglecting anything but wondering how bad do they get? Will wet/dry get as bad?
