    Sporadic, seizure-like movements

I have a german blue ram that has been an inhabitant of my tank for several months now, and for the past week or so has been showing signs of illness. I have done daily 25-50% water changes to see if there would be any improvement in her condition. Unfortunately, it has only worsened, and went...

    German Blue Ram Fin Rot

Are there any treatments that you know of that can be used in the tank to prevent the death of the female? (if it was indeed a parasite) I know that GBR are delicate, so I've been apprehensive about using anything.

    German Blue Ram Fin Rot

Well he died... : ( I have had him for about 4 months or so... And I did about 50% water changes at least once a week.

    German Blue Ram Fin Rot

Will someone please just respond? He's looking very poor, and my fiancee is freaking out. He keeps "falling over" but then quickly rights himself back up-right. It appears that there may be something protruding from between his anal and pelvic fins. (not poop btw)

    German Blue Ram Fin Rot

He is looking quite bloated as well... the tank mates, a female GBR, and 4 neons are fine.

    German Blue Ram Fin Rot

Okay, so I've had a GBR with fin rot for a few weeks now and I've been doing (almost) daily 25-50% PWC along with an addition of stress coat+. He hasn't been getting any bettor however and today he's been literally just resting on the bottom. (not sideways, but still, resting) Is there ANYTHING...

    New tank

Old thread, but doodle, he already said that the biggest tank he can get is a 29g... Try to make sure you read all the previous comments before answering a question... That way you know you aren't giving any inapplicable advice. ~Kaden

    New tank

Oh, it's fine Carey, just wanted to clarify. They're from SA, and yes, are definitely as colorful as mbunas and other African cichlids, just typically more in the red range of colors. Look up Apistogramma cacatuoides, or Mikrogeophagus ramirezi. There are lots of them that pop up in google image...

    New tank

Lol... that was a lot of specifications... I'm not quite sure what to tell you at the moment, and I need to go, but I can help later if someone else doesn't before I'm back. Just keep in mind, the "Apisto" group encompasses the Apistogramma genus, as well as several others... It is just a...

    New tank

They're typically extremely sensitive to pH and nitrates... I would recommend getting your tank well established before adding any dwarf cichlids.

Dwarf cichlids aren't some sort of mutated "miniature" they're just different species which don't get as large... lol...

    New tank

I'm a little prejudiced when it comes to tank size. I will always tell people that smaller will work, but as everyone else says (and I agree) bigger, haha, is almost always better. Keep up with water changes, and make sure they don't feel like a cat living in a shoe box, and they'll be fine. :)

    New tank

Haha, Appistos are quite different than what Cary here is describing however... They don't get very large (usually 3 inches) and some species (as I said) can be kept without incident with a variety of other fish. Whereas with African cichlids even if you only use cichlids from the same lake...

    New tank

If you're looking for cichlids that you can actually keep with other fish, you're going to want to go with Apistogramma species... (or similar dwarf cichlids)

    New tank

Sorry.. Didn't mean that to sound harsh, but yeah, corys and cichlids would in general be a really bad idea... Depending on the cichlids I suppose.

    120 gallon build

Well... First off (as a keeper of mbuna) I just want to say that that 125 is going to be awesome. :) But from there... I have to say I definitely wouldn't keep an Arowana with mbuna. Not that I know they wouldn't get along or anything... just simply because Arowana and mbuna require drastically...
