I was really hoping a 40 breeder would work for him and perhaps a few females. That was my ultimate goal, but I can plan for something else if I need to. My plan at this point is to simply get him out of that tiny tank and make sure he is healthy.

I've considered getting another 40 breeder during Petco's dollar per gallon sale (whenever that may be) so that I can move him and possibly get him some company, I was just hoping that a 20L would help solve the immediate issue with how cramped he is right now. Thanks so much for your response!

I have three 26W (6500K) compact fluorescent bulbs hanging about 12 inches above my 40 gallon breeder. I have seen the chart for T8 and T5 bulbs and I am wondering if my current lighting is adequate for plants that require medium lighting. Any input is appreciated!

I have a few fish (5 cories and some Kribensis fry) to move when the tank is ready. Do I need to add ammonia to make sure it's cycled properly if I have fish ready to go in?

I am going to seed my new 40 gallon breeder with media from my 29 gallon. After I have moved the media, do I need to dose any ammonia? I don't plan to introduce fish until all the water parameters look good, but in order to completely cycle the tank, I wasn't sure if I need to dose ammonia...

I am about to set up a new planted tank and I would like to add some rock to the decor. What type of rock can I add that will not increase the pH of my water, as it is already pretty high at around 7.8. Any advice would be appreciated!
