One other question : If I decide to run Carbon, can I just replace it once per month or is a month long enough for it to start leeching chemicals back into the water ? I'm thinking Carbon + Phos-X for a while until the algae crashes, then just Carbon thereafter with regular detritus cleaning...

Interesting, this could be the cause of an algae problem I've been fighting in my tank. I've been running a fluval 404 since the tank was setup in January and 1 media tray contains the fluval bio-media. I was told at the time that I would never need to replace that media so I have not been doing...

Agreed - I'm running the Pro on a 55 and it works very well with the upgraded pump. I've seen nothing but complaints about the Rio so get the Mag or whatever upgrade is being sold now. Good choice btw - it's a great skimmer, very quiet once broken in and the inevitable micro-bubbles will...
