    Slug?

It's a stomatella, great for your tank! I would put him back in there if you can. http://bb.wetwebmedia.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=181

lighting question, can you have too much light?

12 hrs is good yes but I would have the daylight halide on for about 9-10 hrs and your actinic or LEDs come on in the morning for about an hour first, and stay on for another hour or so in the evening. This way we can not only limit the algae growing light time. But you are simulating sunrise...

    Blue-Green Algae (Cyanobacteria)

Need more info about the tank to properly advise you on this one...size of tank, filtration, water flow rate, water testing ( especially nitrates) how often do you feed, how often do you water change and how much per time? How long has the tank been set up? And what do you have in there for...

newbee.. a couple of ?'s and want to introduce my new tank :)

If you are growing a fair bit of algae I would try to get your water chemistry under control before you add too much to the tank. Algae consumes nitrate and or phosphate. Nitrate and phosphate are common to over feeding but I think from reading your thread you are not doing that. Tap water...

    Help Please/I'm completely lost now......

Ok I have been through exactly the same thing as you are going through right now! It sucks and nothing seems to work at all. I even did a 100% water change out of desperation and it came back in a couple of days. This happened about 8 years ago and my solution was to use a diatom filter for 24...

lighting question, can you have too much light?

I also agree that it takes a few days for new animals to acclimate to your lights/water chemistry as well. Mushrooms for the most part are a lower light coral so keeping them lower in your tank is prolly good.

lighting question, can you have too much light?

It's hard to know if your bulbs are too old on a used fixture. I would prolly ask the person you bought the setup from. As a general guide though, if you are growing a lot of pest algae such as hair algae it could be a sign that your bulbs are nearing the end of their life. Pest algae can also...

lighting question, can you have too much light?

Hi Shelly. It is rate to have too much light. It could be that the bulbs are too old. Generally you get about 10 months to a year out of the bulbs and if it was a used fixture the bulb could need to be replaced. Just the halide bulb btw. Led lights should be good for many years.
