Yeah, I thought about using a piece of the foam pad for my wife's elliptical machine. Just wasn't sure of it was okay to have that in the tank.

Anything I can do to make my return pump run a little quieter? It's an Eheim 1260 sitting directly on the bottom of the sump. Are there any pads that are safe to have in the water?

I'd contact the manufacturer. I emailed Aqueon about my 55 gal. They said if I bought the tank alone, only the bottom is tempered, but if it was sold as a kit, it might have tempered side panels. You could try looking at it with polarized sunglasses.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I'm using two medium-sized shrimp right now (tank's 55 gal). Think I should throw in some more?

Alright, shrimp's been in the tank for a couple days now. It's looking pretty nasty and I have the rusty brown stuff showing up on my rocks, sand, and powerhead. Ammonia's at 0.50 ppm. Nitrite's at zero. Is there a certain minimum amount of Ammonia I should be trying to get to?

Good to know. Does evap increase noticeably when you have the fan running?

My tank's been running for a couple weeks now and the water temp is consistently in the 80-82F range. I still have a few weeks to go before I add any fish, but just so I know, is the temperature too high? It's a 55 gal tank and I'm running an Eheim 1260 return pump, Koralia 550 circ pump...
