You can do it without any LR, But I would at least do it with a med size piece of LR at each end.

Tank will probably be ok for a few hrs. as for the fridge, I would set the temps lower just prior to the outage, say 6 hrs, and leave the door closed while it's out.

I am not sure if captivity stunts there growth or not, But they do become huge in the ocean.

AHH My bad! I saw the 24" and read all the way accross to the 384 watts and didn't see that 48" was what i was looking at. then yes, 4.5 is moderate. I use to run some softies under 90 watts of NO on a 50 gallon 36" tank. :)

384 watts divided by 29 gallons gives you 13 watts a gallon. this would be extremely high light range. most corals will do well under 7-10 watts per gallon.

your camera should have aperture priority mode. meaning you can set the F-stop manually. wide open is the lowest F-stop number. F4 or F3.5. The camera will automatically select the best shutter speed. Without the MH lamps, I would at least go get a tripod, you will need it.
