    Ammonia...

They are still in there, going to re-test the ammonia in a minute but hopefully it's gone now.

    Ammonia...

Ammonia has dropped ALOT through the day, barely measurable now. I guess the extra live rock I put in there last night held enough bacteria... Will probably move fish regardless.

    Ammonia...

I'm just going to remove the fish and put them back into the display for now, gotta do it right! Appreciate all the replies.

    Ammonia...

I know I need to cycle it but I was thinking that the mature sand & mature live rock would have enough bacteria anyway. I think I'll have to cycle though, this isn't working.

    Ammonia...

I recently setup a tank to put my clarkii pair and it is to be used as a spawning tank, I've added sand from my display and a few good size pieces of well matured live rock. It obviously isn't handling the ammonia though - I'm around 1.0ppm now, maybe slightly more. What do to now? Water...

    What are these?

Good reply seeing as the picture doesn't work now but they aren't either one (although there is a lot of them too) The picture shows a load of circle things, like spirals, they are hard and stuck on the glass, I'll fix the picture tommorow so you can get a look. Thanks for the reply.

    What are these?

I have hundreds of these in my sump and was wondering if anyone knew what they were? I highlighted a few so you know what I'm on about.

    DIY Tank.

So, I got the glass for my custom tank today, the measurements are: 1x 600mm x 400mm 2x 600mm x 200mm 2x 395mm x 200mm So it ends up being 600mm x 400mm x 200mm. I originally got the sides cut using 2mm glass as an aquarium calculator saw this as safe. The bottom was then cut using 4mm...

    Live rock in cold water?

In relation to the temperature there was lol. 20c is seemingly fine at least for coralline and filter worms because it's all doing good :)

    Should I clean my sand?

Gave it all a good clean, much better lol.

    Should I clean my sand?

In relation to another post on had on here, I've broke down a tank so I could refurb the stand, while storing the tank I left the sand in there with an inch or so of water above it. Coming to setting it up again and I'm thinking it's probably best to clean the sand out? It doesn't look the...

    Live rock in cold water?

I recently broke down my 70G to overhaul the unit and a few other things, the majority of its contents (coral, live rock, fish) all went into other tanks/containers. I put a fair amount of live rock into an unheated (but does have power head) bucket, it's been in there for a day now and it's...

    Painting inside canopy?

Appreciate the replies! I've since painted it, just giving it a good few days to fully cure, looks good though!

    Painting inside canopy?

I recently made a canopy for my fish tank and was wondering if it was OK to paint the inside with white gloss? I've heard it done like that plenty of times but I mean white gloss you would paint your house with (skirting etc...) ? Thanks.

    Pulsing xenia

You can buy 1ft T5 fixtures from ebay for real cheap, that will do you over a 10gallon, at least for now. They are like 3x8w, it's gonna be better than just the LED fixture.

    UV leds?

I think I might give it a try over a small piece of GSP or something, I might just skip the whole idea though, don't want to risk anything over a bit of glow! Appreciate all the replies.
  23. aaronalam

    UV leds?

It's just a weak UV torch, only wanting to use it for the coral glow at night, but if their is any risk to the corals I won't use it.

    UV leds?

I figured it would be OK but thought it was worth checking first just incase. Appreciate the reply.

    UV leds?

Ok, I have a UV torch (LEDS) and shining them anywhere near coral really illuminates them. I'm considering pulling the LEDS out and making an led bar, would this be safe for my tank? It would look amazing at night.
