Just wanted to add that my standard water parameters are fine, and I do weekly PWCs. I've also added a cuttle bone.

Soaking in tank water allows the freeze-dried food to absorb moisture and reconstitute into a form that won't swell as much inside the fish after it's eaten, which decreases the chance of bloating.

Frozen or live is preferable, but you can get away with freeze-dried IF you soak it first.

I spoke to soon about my apple snails. They stopped moving about 3 days ago, and I pulled them out today, dead. They lived for less than a month. I can only assume they died from whatever killed the nerites. Again, the water parameters are excellent. I am so frustrated! :banghead:

I may be mistaken, but I believe the idea is that the crab can enter/exit into the main tank through an opening at the base of the habitat.

I give my betta NLS pellets dry, one by one. He barely lets them hit the water before he pounces. If it's quiet enough, I can actually hear the crunching!

Well, at both lfs they were in tanks with freshwater tropicals, so I have to assume freshwater.

What the heck is going on? I've tried twice now to introduce Olive Nerites to my tank, and both times they have died within 24 hours. :( In both instances, they seemed fine and were crawling around inside the bags, but after drip acclimating them and placing them in my tank, they moved around...

Also, check your tap water for ammonia as well. The .25 may actually be coming from your pwc.

Otos! I have six that I originally added to clean-up a diatom outbreak (which they quickly did), and they have easily become my favorites. They are little hyperactive eating machines. So much fun to watch!
