i keep adf frogs in very soft water. the printed sites say they like harder, but they are 2 years old and going strong.

Everything is growing including two new eriocaulon species (I did melt a mato grosso that came with the others.. and will try that again after a rescape. the seller is going to send me one more when I say when since it melted in 24 hours) My larger glandulosa died, but it never came back...

I so agree . There is no reason to worry if your ph is low due to co2. The fish don't care. What hurts fish is changing the percent of dissolved solids in a tank, like when you try to "adjust" your ph or kh. leave it alone!!! and as someone with a milwaukee meter I would say save your money...

no reason to mess iwth your kh at all.. use a drop checker to measure co2 and enjoy the plants you can grow in soft water!

trying erios too. so far macrandra showing decided improvement but I have green thready algae on my surface whereever a leaf hits.. and I think some kind of thread algae on my blyxia.

Plantbrain's answer to me when I thought old bulbs were causing my algae was simple : less light doesn't cause more algae. Check co2.. in your case since you are not injecting research is non-co2 tank methods.. and really olive nerite snails will clean your glass in one night

most important nutrient is co2. with co2 the plants will use phosphates and nitrates.. but you need co2 or to follow a strict non-co2 method first.. search threads for plantbrain on both topics

actually plantbrain says it is a good tool if you are trying to recover from an algae break out.. and I'm about to move some back IN to my tank for that reason..

Kaz, no matter how great I'd get a scape to look, the tank was completely over grown in about 5 days.. God help me if I had to skip a week of serious pruning, the fish could barely swim and the plants being shaded by the fastest growers would fall apart. I lost 2 batchs of glandulosa that way...

And everything is still growing. Ludwiga Ver. Pantanal, tonina belem, tonina fluviatilas.. the glandulosa was looking sad before and still is. my biggest challenge is I took the top off the tank (acrylic) and am having a harder time maintaining levels of co2... I am creeping up.. leaving only...

I am so sorry to read this. It is just awful. Be good to yourself and know that friends are mourning a little bit tonight with you.

I toss in the macros as the water is filling up.
