I used gel feeders for a two week trip. Everyone made it through just fine. They don't self dissolve so fish pick @ them. I put one in each corner incase of Dom issues and all went well even w/ an overstocked tank. And had convict fry when I got back lol!
Weird. I have a dozen convicts in my tank. Fry at least once a month cause of at least 2 breeding pair and no issues. Even while living w/ red devil & Oscar.
WALMART, PETSMART. I got mine at Walmart had two different sizes. Has a feeding guide on the back to help you decide how many you need based on tank, # and size of fish.
I was away for two weeks and I used a gel like "feeder". Drop in tank, does not self dissolve so the fish have to pick at it. Safe for chichlids. Put in my small tank too for my kenyi baby an he was fine.
Some are repeats. 1 Oscar, 1 Jack, 1 red devil, 2 placo, about 10 convicts (2 breeding pair), a few kenyi and what I call a bumblebee :) The tank is 75 gal.
So this 75 gallon tank was given to me with fish last year. I was told they were all cichlids and it was a community tank. I think I have identified a few but not all so any help would be great. They all get along but I'm not sure what they all are.
I got that at walmart yesterday for $30. It's neat you can set one of six colors or set to fade in and out with all six. It's home to the tiny survivors of my big tank till they can fend for themselves :).
Pleco??? Do I have a pleco?? Which one are you talking about? You mat be right but if you are talking about the one by the tree thats Jack cause he's a Jack Dempsey :) Is that the same as pleco??
Thanks. Everyone seems to be getting along but there are soooo many convicts. I already have a second tank for rescued convict babies. It's only 5 gallons but it's only three barely half an inch in length. Looks like we will be getting a third tank at least 55 gal for overflow. Six months in and...
I was given a 75 gallon tank with fish about 6 months ago. It's a mixed chichlid tank. While they are not supposed to everyone gets along and no serious issues besides my black convicts won't stop breeding. Had three breeding pairs last month alone.
I removed 2 black convict cichlids from my 75 gallon community tank a few months back. They are about half an inch in size. My tiger oscars are getting fairly aggressive ( is currently eating a decent size black convict). If I were to remove one of the smaller convicts and put them in the tank...
