    Green Terror information request.

It may depends on the personality of the JD. Same as the GT, it can vary. They may get more aggressive as they get older as well. You can do wood or rocks or both. Just make sure there are no sharp edges. If they startle you don't want them hurting them selves. Both fish are very hardy too.

    Green Terror information request.

Green terror Cichlids 55 is the minimum size. I would do a 90 if you plan to keep the Syno. I wouldn't do plants, Terrors tend to dig. As far as lonely they aren't like Oscars. They do fine alone. But if you get one I would think about moving that Syno. Terrors can be pretty aggressive beyond...

    Frontosas/gibberosa

I had 4 gold and 4 inkfin Calvus with mine. Even my big boys never tried to snack them. If fronts are fed well they stay pretty tame. Filtration is an XP5 and a 405. 180 gallon tank. It still holds fish. Just no fronts.

    Frontosas/gibberosa

He grew to to about 5 inches the first year. Then a couple of inches a year after that. After three years he only wanted to eat every other day, even with krill right in front of him.

    Frontosas/gibberosa

I no longer have Fronts :( but they are one of my favorites of all time. Here is a shot of my big daddy, Poseidon. He was 5 years old and 13" at the time.

    My fish got out!

Depends on the fish. I have heard of some going on a hunger strike. Or being picky. Mine will eat any thing. Krill, beefheart, super worms, crickets, pellets, flake food. My wife comments on all of the splashing she hears in the tank all the time. She's worried about a big mess one day...

    My fish got out!

Sorry to hear about the fish. I had an experience with my Arowana (natural jumper). I left one of the plexiglass backings off the back of the canopy by mistake, after doing maintenance. I left the room to watch a movie with the kids. I walked in after the movie to feed and didn't see the...

    Firemouth acting strange

Have you aerated the water? Any time i treat for anything in my tanks I try to bump the oxygen up as much as possible. From bubbles to lowering the water level to create a waterfall effect.

Only culprit for the fins would be the convict. Maybe he abused him while you were away. Welcome back.

    leleupi

I would not mix these with Rams. The water requirements are totally different and the Rams may get beat down. They mix OK with some other species from lake Tanganyika. They tend to be more aggressive towards there own kind so you would need a group of 5 or more to maintain order. They get to 4"...

    Firemouth acting strange

If Ick sets up in the gills alone that fish could of had it for a month or more before it started showing the symptoms. But once the Ick gets severe enough in the gills its a very fast death. It can't breath. The OP won't have the luxury of monitoring as he stated he will be gone for 10...

    Compatibility??

One was sold to my wife as an African dwarf by an ignorant LFS worker. She put it in her tank and I warned her about what it was, but she didn't believe me until her Honey Gouramis started to disappear. We moved it to a tank with Australian rainbows and it, and the fish were fine.

    Firemouth acting strange

Wow. Sorry to hear it. That was a fast onset. If I were you I would keep a close eye on the other fish and look for signs of Ick. Ick doesn't have to be visible to the eye to be present, it can attack the insides of the gills only and cause rapid breathing with a fast death just like the one...

    New fish Not eating

IMO that it can vary. Healthy fish can go longer I'm sure. But after 3 weeks I'm thinking it must be getting nutrition somehow. Especially if its active. The longest I have ever heard of a healthy fish not eating is about 3 weeks before it died. Sick fish a week or 2. I haven't let my fish...

    New fish Not eating

Aequidens rivulatus or Green Terror is the ID. Can be very aggressive as it gets older too. Normally its a hardy eater. Did it eat at first? If it came from a LFS find out what they were feeding. Sometimes fish need to adjust or get used to what you do vs where they came from. If you have...

    fahaka puffer

I have mine in a 90 right now. I got him when he was 1.5 inches. He is growing at a rate of approximately 3/4" a month right now and is about 4 inches. He will be going into a 150 when the time is right. Fahaka grow at the rate of 1/2" to 1" if fed properly until about 10" to 11" then slow...

    Gap between Aquarium and Stand

This is common. Your stand is settling or in other word "conforming" to the weight. Better the stand than the tank. As far as all brand new water goes you should be OK. If you didn't change anything out in your filter, and dechlorinated properly the worst you may experience is a mini cycle. If...

    Will my tank survive?

They need lots of caves and hides to be comfortable. So a 125 or larger would be ideal.
