So almost a year since I put my foxface through hyposalinity and copper treatment. Not sure which one actually helped but he's cured. Has been thriving and has shown no reoccurring symptoms.

Been a salt water hobbyist for a while. Not sure if fresh water is much different (except for the salt, obviously). My daughter wants glow fish for her birthday. Thinking I'll get her an 8-10 g for her room. How do I start? Do I need to cycle water before adding the fish? Help please.

Well, today is day three of copper treatment. Maybe I'll discontinue the copper and go straight hypo salinity. Can I treat for Popeye without loosing BB? I'm using maracyn two Popeyes treatment.

Just set up qt for ichified foxface. Seeded from DT (2) gal, QT is 10g. It's been set up for 3days now. Had to do 3 emergency PWCs due to ammonia. (.5ppm). Treating fish with copper, which is why there is no substrate. What am I doing wrong? Why won't this qt cycle?

ammonia is 0 Nitrite 0, Natrate 5 to 10 Ph 8.0 Sal. 1.020

Its a new addition. Shouldve looked him over better before I bought him. My DT is pristine.

How long should I treat the ich and keep him in QT? Obviously until all signs are gone, but how do I know the ich is gone and not gonna come back? Today is only day two in QT, but he already seems like a different fish; swimming and eating. Just has that nasty puffy left eye.

Is pop eye a symptom of ich or is it another issue? Quarantined with copper meds and low salinity. White spots gone, but eye still popping out.

We shall see in a couple of days if QT works with copper treatment. Foxface had no issues with FW dip.

Rodi water is Reverse Osmosis, Deionization water. Basically, its purified water. Thats all you should use. If you dont have it in your house, you need to get some 5 gal water jugs, go find a water works store and buy it. Outside your grocery store is probably a purified water dispenser. Or...

Id get rid of the flakes all together. Just use frozen brine or misys shrimp. Feed once, maybe twice a day. 3 times a day, not necessary. Keep doing the water changes. It will come down. But, if its 20, thats no real threat. 30 to 40 range, then I'd start to worry. Also, if you have a sump, add...

Yep, a sump is the way to go. Had canisters before, didn't like them. Your biggest challenge will be the plumbing. What kind of return/overflow will you have?
