    Moving with fish- Please help!

Do any of you know if an airstone filter can temporarily take the place of an above water filter? I would like to put the old filter in the new tank to cycle it faster and I have an airstone laying around. Would it be sufficient enough and for how long?

    Moving with fish- Please help!

So the move went well. All three of my pals are still alive and kicking. They did get tossed around some on the trip here, but I was trying to drive as carefully as possible. :P They're currently in their tank on the kitchen counter. haha There's only substrate, the filter, and the heater, so...

I got it. Thanks, though. (:

Rinsing sand? (Quick replies, please!) (:

I have the long blue one. I guess I can see if it would stay on top of the sand. I think my little guys like the bubbles. (:

Rinsing sand? (Quick replies, please!) (:

I went with the bucket thing. :P Also, I heard you can't use air stones with sand. Is that true? It makes complete sense, but I just wanted to make sure.

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Oh I will. I hope my buddies don't get bothered by being tousled around for a few hours. Wouldn't wanna make them SEA SICK. hahahahahaha Anyway, I'll let you guys know how it goes by the end of the weekend. (: Thanks for all of your help and suggestions; I really did take them all into account...

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Um I think I'm going to empty the ten gallon halfway, take out at least one or two of the decorations (leaving them somewhere to hide if they get scared) and going to pop it in the backseat of my car, plug in the heater, and hope nothing goes wrong. Granted, I can carry the tank...

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Oh I see. Ours are in quad...plexes...? But we all have our own apartments. Our own bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, etc. Like having a real apartment. (: I like this school because they are tolerant of the fishies (though no other animals). If they wouldn't take my fish, I would either be finding...

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Well, I'll be in a family housing apartment. ;) I'm married you see. They allow anything up to 20g in the apartments.

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Really? Only four hours? That would be awesome. My fish all lived through the ten gallon cycling (I still feel bad, because I didn't know it took long. I shamefully followed the tank instructions which said 24 hours. -.-), but I would rather not put them through it again. :P I think it's dry at...

Okay so they should be fine in the half-full tank? I figured as much. What about all of the decorations? And about cycling the new tank?

Rinsing sand? (Quick replies, please!) (:

Yes, it's new sand. I won't have a hose at the new place because it will be an apartment (there's a hose where I'm at now). If I rinse it now, will it be okay to sit for a few days? We move Saturday. If so, what would you recommend doing with the rinsed sand? Like, where should I store it...

    Moving with fish- Please help!

Okay so update: I have a 20g long tank waiting to be set up for the move this Saturday, and now I have two corys and my betta because one cory died. Would it be safe to leave the tank half full and keep the fish in it? If so, should I remove the ornaments/plants or leave them? I also have sand...

    Sluggish Betta

Rinsing sand? (Quick replies, please!) (:

Hello! So I have a ten gallon tank now, but I have a 20g long tank to set up when I move in just a few days now. I bought some regular aquarium sand to put in the 20g tank (I'm currently using a mixture of marbles and small stones) because I have heard that sand is more beneficial to bottom...

    Sluggish Betta

My betta is doing fine! He still likes to lay at the bottom but he has definitely been swimming around a LOT more. I think it was a mixture of poor water conditions from the old tank and probably being cold all of the time. He seems happy. ^-^ My two corys are doing wonderful, as well. One is...

    Sluggish Betta

It's a Top Fin filter from PetSmart (whatever came with my starter kit). I don't have MSN. You have twitter, even? lol Also: Betta looks the same as he's been looking; he's still turning silver. He's stopped scratching on things, and has been much more active lately and eating more. He still...

    Sluggish Betta

Yeah ): I just wish I knew what killed him...he looks normal other than the fact that he's dead...I put him in a ziploc bag with a little water (don't ask why) and stuck him in the freezer, just to make sure he's absolutely dead before I do anything with him. The other corys are still acting...

    Sluggish Betta

So...should I put him BACK in the main tank? He's been in quarantine all day. I don't have a heater or filter for the Q tank, so it would probably be better to put him back...but obviously I don't know much. :/ Edit: Nvmd I think he died...his gills aren't moving and I poked him around gently...

    Sluggish Betta

He just lays there...I did feed him some cooked mashed shelled peas, so we'll see how he is in the morning...he seems to have problems getting on his stomach once he's on his side; he wiggles and wiggles and it just looks exhausting. Then, when he manages to get upright, his tail and bottom half...

    Sluggish Betta

Okay if anyone is still up (doubt it) I need to know how I can set up a safe quarantine tank for my cory. I do not want to keep him in the one gallon, especially because it doesn't have a heater or filter. I'm thinking of running to Wal-mart to get a starter tank. But since my main tank is not...

    Sluggish Betta

They don't have one; I asked. I know what you meant. :P =========================================== I have tried the pea, twice, which he wanted nothing to do with. Any advice? When I tried, it just sunk to the bottom. He's been eating okay now; he seems to like the Hikari food. I'm only...

    Sluggish Betta

Update: Betta is still laying very limp at the bottom of the tank, on his side. When I went to feed my corys, he layed on their food o.O The corys tried to push him out of the way but it was almost like he was paralyzed...he struggled to move and just went in small circles. ): I finally figured...

    Sluggish Betta

twixie09's deviantART gallery Try that. How much gravel do you think will be sufficient, if it would even work? I'm pretty sure they don't have a used filter that they would give me. :/ Also, I'm thinking the main reason why he has been spitting out his food is because it's probably expired. I...
