Thanks for all your suggestions guys, but the little guy didn't make it... I'm going to bury him in the garden now... I can't believe how quickly this all happened! What precaution should I be taking with my man tank? There's Melafix in there now and the other two goldies seem very normal...
Update is not good. He's now even weaker and breathing is very shallow. Still bleeding occasionally from his anus. He's not even able to stay upright anymore ?
Oh man, whatever is affecting him is really virulent! He's not just poopinng bloody stool now... There's actual blood coming out of his anus!! What else can I do?!?! Really panicking now!! :(
There's no Melafix in the hospital tank, only in the main tank. There's salt, prime and aqua-Cycline in the hospital tank at the moment. Anything else I should add?
Ok this is not good. He has deteriorated since last night for sure. I woke up this morning and when I checked on him, I thought he was dead! Just stiff and getting pushed around by the currents! Double checked and he's still alive. He's now in a hospital tank with an air stone. If it is...
Yeah it's my first summer in this house and that's the only room in the house that I can have the tank in... We've got a 50L planted tropical tank in the front room, a betta tank and a nano planted shrimp tank in the kitchen, these goodies in my study and a 250L+ goldfish pond in the backyard. I...
Hi all, one of my goldfish recently started developing what looks like blood on the edge of his tail. All was okay until a couple of days ago when he didn't show any interest in feeding. My tank details are below:
Water parameters:
Ph 7.5
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Temp 24
Hardware:
140...
Huzzah! I think I have managed to help the little Oranda reset his gut after 4 days of frozen peas diet. I moved back to pre-soaked flakes today and he isn't floating anymore! Thanks again guys, for all your useful suggestions.
Thanks for the link Jsoong! Much appreciated. I've just spoken to the guy at the LFS and I'm now starting a pea diet (should also try the zuchini soon) for about 5 days to a week before feeding them dry food again. This is day one of the pea diet and the Oranda isn't floating after eating :)...
Well, it's in the day time now and the temp in the water was 21 degrees. So it's just one degree :) My white clouds seem to be loving the new addition though...
OK... I found some time to duck out during lunch to get a heater and thermometer. Set it to 22 degrees celcius. Not much else I can do but wait I guess...
A Malaysian living in Melbourne :) I'll get a heater and thermometer this weekend then. I'm assuming when JSoong said get the temperature to mid-70s, he's meaning 70 degree Fahrenheit :) I reckon 70 degree celcius will cook my fishes :P. So around 23 degrees celcius is good for my goldies?
Oh...
I currently don't have any heater/thermometer in the tank. I live in Melbourne and it definitely doesn't get too cold here. My previous goldfish was fine without it, do you still recommend that I get a heater?
I fed them the NLS Thera A sinking pellets today. I made sure that the Oranda wasn't floating before I fed them. I also soaked the pellets for a good 20 minutes before putting them in the tank. Seemed to work for the first hour or so, then BANG! Oranda is floating like a balloon again :(
Mine isn't gasping though... His mouth is definitely always under the surface of the water. It's just that he's floating. No idea what else to do now... :(
Oh and I am currently feeding them the NLS Thera A sinking pellets. Is your Oranda still having that problem? Am just wondering if it is going to be a constant problem or if he will outgrow it... If there is such a thing...
