Online Fish store - suggestions please!

maxwellag- Yes, a pygmy cory is a variety of dwarf cory, along with habrosus and hastatus. AquaKai - Thank you for the link. ArizonaGardens might be a good place to go to get the fish if I can come up with the minimum order of $35. Right now, I've got all the supplies I need...

Online Fish store - suggestions please!

maxwellg - thanks for the suggestion, but they don't carry the pygmy either. I hadn't previously checked there before, though, either, so thank you. allexx - Wal-Mart is the only LFS anywhere within a 2 1/2 hour radius. I don't know if Wal-Mart accepts fish from the public, but I'd rather...

    My surprise

I've only got two types of fish in my "big" tank, so I know that the babies have to be either White Cloud Mountain Minnows (WCMM) or a danio (I have 1 zebra danio and two long-finned leopard danios). I've raised a danio fry before, and the danio seemed to grow really slowly. My guess (and it...

    My surprise

About a month ago, I ordered some plants, one of which was an anubias nana "petite". The "petite" looked decent on arrival but had brown around the edges of all the leaves. it shed all of it's leaves within a day or two of arriving, and then my apple snails started eating the rhizome. In an...

    Java out of water

I've read (I've never tried it myself) that Java moss only has to have a piece of it in the water to survive. I read an article recently that mentioned this: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Plant,%20Java%20Moss.htm

    Please help! Leaking tank!!

The filters would definitely help the new tanks cycle. As far as I'm concerned, the more beneficial bacteria you can move to a new tank from an old tank before you put fish in the new tank, the better. Just make sure to "feed" the good bacteria if you put the filters and stuff in the new tanks...

    Idea for a Ten Gallon

As far as painting the back goes, why don't you just use a piece of paper in the appropriate color and attach it to the back of the tank using a piece of tape or similar adhesive? It sounds easier to implement and would be easier to change if you decide to use this tank for something else in...

    Please help! Leaking tank!!

How fast is your water leaking? If it's leaking real fast, I'd drain as much water from the large tank as you can into the smaller ones, move the decorations, filters, a handful or two of gravel for each of the 10's, and anything else you can move without making a huge mess into the smaller...

    Pygmy cories

I agree - cory cats are great fish. I'm looking to get some pygmy corys for my 10 gallon.

    Pygmy cories

Just about anything that's peaceful and not big enough to eat the corys is a good choice. However, I got some zebra and leopard danios and some white cloud mountain minnows. I would recommend both of them as good tank mates. The minnows are small, so you could have a bigger school of them...

Thanks for the suggestion, but they don't carry pygmy (or any other dwarf cory). :(

Online Fish store - suggestions please!

I am looking for some dwarf cory cats, preferrably Pygmy corys. Lliveaquaria.com doesn't carry the pygmy, and they are out of stock at thatpetplace.com. Does anyone have any suggestions for an online fish store that carries pygmys? Furthermore, I would prefer to keep the shipping costs less...

has anyone ever bought from aquariumplants.com?

I haven't ordered from them, but I recently bought plants from Bobs Tropical Plants. Here's a thread of reviews from them: Bob's Tropical Plants - US Store Reviews - Aquatic Plant Central Here's a link to Aquatic Plant Central that has other poeple's reviews of AquariumPlants.com...

Good background plant for low light 6 gallon tank?

I second the suggestion for a java moss wall. I've got two 15W incandescent bulbs on my 10g tank and my java moss has stayed green. It grows more slowly under lower light, but it still grows. I recently erected a moss wall in my tank and am waiting for it to grow out.

    cory's in a 10g

In my experience, different varieties of cory cats DO school together. So you could probably get both varieties you're looking at. If you want something other than just cory cats, you should get all pandas, as they are somewhat smaller than many other species of cory. If you are looking at...

    Rotala Rotundifolia - quick question

I see - that makes more sense. My tank has plants in it, but not enough to make gravel vacuuming unnecessary. I have some dwarf sags that don't seem to much enjoy the gravel vacuuming. They grew like crazy when I first got them and have pretty much stopped growing since. I've been trying to...

    Rotala Rotundifolia - quick question

Thank you both for your opinions! I appreciate them! mfdrookie516: when you say it's a stem plant so gravel vacuuming won't be an issue - why is that? What makes stem plants not have a problem with gravel vacuuming - they have roots, don't they?

I am considering the possibility of buying some Rotala Rotundifolia. I'm wondering how it handles being moved and how it handles gravel vacuuming.

    Creeping Jenny?

Thank you so much for your advice! I'll look into the plants you listed. I'll probably stay away from the creeping jenny, for now anyway. I'm hoping to be able to upgrade to a 30 gallon tank in the next year or two. Maybe I'll look into the creeping jenny again then. Thanks again for all your...
