Update: I went for pre-paired pair of Rams 1 small Angel fish (it is smaller than the Rams) 6 platys (2 male 4 female) :fish2::fish1::fish2::fish1: I'm very happy with the few I got, bearing in mind I want to keep a happy tank I think it looks fantastic with some colour in it at last :)...

I suppose I used the term "ditherfish" wrongly (I see what you mean)

I am happy that my tank is now ready for it's first fish (FYI I have been using established filter media from my othertank in this new one since it was set-up) levels are all good I'll be putting my Pleco in tonight, then off to my LFS to pick-up the following (although still open to all...

Carey I have spent the last three evenings reading this entire thread, I have yet to dip my toe into the world of Salt water Aquariums, I am a freshwater tropical keeper (for the foreseeable future)... I really enjoy reading from the Marine side of things I just wanted to thank you for sharing...

yep I'm still on fishless cycle...my moonlight will only be used for a few hours in the evening..then total darkness overnight and through until the main light comes on on the timer

I have never seen this before spotted them in my LFS on Saturday while out getting ideas for stocking my 48" (56Imperial Gal) tank...they were about 1" long and very pretty to look at and watch for a while, the shop assistant said they grow to about 6" and are very peaceful and get on ok with...

don't you have your Aquarium lights on a timer switch?

I've only just bought the 48" one....don't have room for anything larger without major interior redesigning I'll go for an Oscar again in the future I'm sure and I'll have a much bigger tank for him :thumb:

My otherhalf took my young Oscar to Maidenhead aquatics today :( shame he went, but it was best for him I'm going for Community with a handfull of Dwarf Cichlids

yeah I see what you mean :facepalm: tons of fish to mention I have in mind the smaller American Cichlids, I will pop along to my local Fish store for some inspiration on Friday afternoon (finish work at 13:00) :thumb:

I will be moving my Oscar and pleco into a new tank in a few weeks once cycling has finished I have had Oscars before but never kept them with other breeds of fish (apart from pleco's) what other species should I be looking at? thank you all in advance :fish1:

just signed up...I have recently returned to Oscar fish having spent the last few years with freshwater community fish my new tank just getting the temp right and put some established media from my other tank in the filter since taking the picture (on Saturday) I have bought more substrate...
