PS- they don't seen interested in the Pygmy Cory I have in there either.

    20gal Dwarf Puffers: with friends?

I only recently got my pea puffers and in a weird twist I ended up putting my four freebie endler's in there with them. ( the guy at the LFS thought they were just guppy fry so he just gave them to me- tee hee). Strangely enough, the puffers don't even look at them. And they definitely are old...

    Giant Bloated Female Betta

Thanks! There has been no change in her in the last few days either with feeding or fasting so I think you are right about the eggs. Thanks again.

    Giant Bloated Female Betta

You may be right - you reminded me of one other time this happened and the big lady dropped a whole bunch of eggs and even made a bubble nest for them. Then she ate them. Is there any health risk with her carrying eggs like this? Is there anything at all I can do to help her out?

    Giant Bloated Female Betta

I have a female Betta who is about a year old. She is fully grown and is in my Betta sorority of 6 females in a 20g tall tank. (No behavior problems so that's not the issue) she is definitely the Alpha female so tends to eat first and most. But she is really really bloated for the past few days...

    Do bamboo shrimp need friends?

I can't remember where I read this, but I saw it recommended that they like the company of other bamboo shrimp. I have one in my 20 long... I would gladly get him a friend but only if it is necessary.

    Mystery Betta Ailment

yeah, this sounds the same to me. so sorry for your guy. I am betting that it is something to do with poor breeding practices, stressful shipping, and bad water quality that does some sort of damage to their internal processes and they never bounce back.

    Mystery Betta Ailment

lol, no you aren't wrong - there are lots of opinions on this. ditto for "betta fix" -- some people say they have seen their fish die from the bettafix... i tend to only use salt when the fin rot is really extreme and the chances of them developing a secondary infection are high. and i use...

    Mystery Betta Ailment

So I did a silly thing and talked my LFS into just giving me three of their not-dead-yet male Bettas. My case was helped by the fact that I pointed to the stack of three dead Betta cups I'd found already that morning. I said - these fish will be dead in a few hours if they stay here, just let...

What am I missing? Filterless betta tank set up

Woah! I've never even heard of that! So far this is the only Betta I've had who really doesn't like any movement at all - but I will look into a small sponge filter and try that. I think the brand name for the little filter is "jankety jank jank filter". If I remember correctly it is rated for...

Can i add anything to this tank?

I agree, try a ghost shrimp. I have a 3G with a Betta and a baby apple snail (who I'll move when s/he gets bigger) and a big ghost shrimp. But another member here said my Betta is like the Dali Lama of Bettas and I think it will work. I am NOT going to put my red cherry shrimp in there though!

    Eco Complete Rough for Cories?

I absolutely agree with this. Through research and my own trial and error, I am leaning heavily towards the water quality side of the debate. Any time my cories lost their barbels, it turned out to be a water quality issue and when I fixed it, they grew back every time, no matter what the...

What am I missing? Filterless betta tank set up

Great advice and suggestions everyone! Thank you! Is 11 watts cfl better or still too much? And here is what Tristan thinks of his new home! First bubble nest I've seen him do in a long time!

    Adding a betta to community?

"DOTB" That's my acronym for depends on the Betta! All my male Bettas are in community tanks - but you must always have a back up plan. Even if it works just fine for 6 months, someone can "snap" and it all goes to pieces. I had a young angel with a male Betta, but once the angel got bigger, he...

What am I missing? Filterless betta tank set up

Hi all! I've looked at several sites about filterless tanks and still find myself confused, so hopefully someone here can advise! The Inspiration: I have a beautiful male betta with long delicate fins who seems completely unable to deal with any current. He is in a 10g tank and even with the...

    "Sterilizing" plants and transparent Cabomba

Awesome advice everyone! Thanks so much! QUOTE="Atxpunx"]If I'm not mistaken, cabomba is a high light plant. Your plant might be limited by the amount of carbon dioxide in the tank. Natural sunlight is very strong and plants might show deficiency if you don't have a balance of light, nutrients...

    "Sterilizing" plants and transparent Cabomba

#1 I have some java moss in my new fish/ QT tank and I'd like to move some into an empty low light area of another tank - but I'm not 100% sure the new fish are disease free yet. Is there a way to kill any possible yucky things to move it? #2 I have some lovely cabomba and some stems are a...
