    Sick Clam!!!!

Thanks. I agree it was not the shrimp because he looked bad before he got near him. Just didnt help at all by picking him in his distress. Im just assuming that he was already sick and the move probably did him in. Im just sorry there was nothing i could do. Probably wont be taking clams off...

As any one used voogle to treat ick ??

I've used voogle before but not for ich. It's a very mild antibiotic that shouldnt hurt anything in the tank. But when i did use it i was informed over and over when i bought it to not over dose at all. Hope everything works out!!

    Sick Clam!!!!

So I set up a sick tank for him with the tank water so not to shock him too much and placed him on his rock last night. I figured this way the cleaner beast wouldnt pick him to death. This morning he was totally open and smelling pretty bad so I'm assuming the poor fellow died. I'm not sure what...

    Sick Clam!!!!

I never thought of that so i just called and he said he didnt rip him off the rock. He thinks it could be stress but i think its way past that. I have been looking all iver online and cant find anything yet thats like him.

    Sick Clam!!!!

I picked him up and it's not actually a shell but it is where the two shells come together. I took a picture of it, it's not the greatest pic though but it's the best I could do on the iphone.

    Sick Clam!!!!

The little beast, I figured he was trying to do as much. On the bottom there is something white, looks cone shaped, I just assumed that it was his foot or whatever it is that he uses to attach to the rock.

    Sick Clam!!!!

Nope, nothing like that. The only thing I could see wrong with him at first was just his mouth open and now hes just sinking further and further into his shell. I can tell he's still alive because he keeps snapping shut but I think it's just adding more stress on him from the cleaner shrimp. I...

    Sick Clam!!!!

It sounded weird to me when I heard it but who was I to argue with someone when I knew less than them, lol. My friend had it for about 4 months and he was fine and looked great. They just dismantled their tank because they were moving. In the tank he was high up on the rocks in the light with...

    Sick Clam!!!!

The LfS said that to get all the tank water out your supposed to take him out of the water, have him release it, place him back in the water and then place him in your tank at a 45 degree angle for an hour than place him normally. I did this and he was fine and then bam, morning time came and...

    Sick Clam!!!!

Hey All, So my tank is about 8 months along and a friend of mine just gave me this blue maxima clam. I acclimated him for over 2 hours as well as 'burped' him. I placed him in the bottom because I have seen them there in the lfs. I noticed his mouth gaping open and I placed him more near the...

New tank - Need some advice

You have to be careful with wht you add with them, their bodies are really flimsy and they swim up right, almost bobing up and down which makes them a really slow swimmer. They are not at all fast so when feeing time comes along and there is another fish by the time they swim to it, it'd be...

New tank - Need some advice

Here is a good article about them. It tells your a bit about the anatomy of the sea horses and talks about what tank mates they can have and cant have. It's an interesting read. I personally love sea horses and want a herd of them but they take a lot of extra care and cant go in my regular tank...

New tank - Need some advice

I did some research before on sea horses and they are a bit hard to care for sometimes. They need to be in their own tank perhaps with a non-aggressive slow bottom dweller. They are very slow swimmers and cannot have much flow. If you have faster fish in the tank they will eat all the food and...

    Feeding time questions

Personally I don't care too much for pellets. I had bought some myself recently and my inhabitants wont touch it. The first time I fed it to them they went for it and would fight each other but they all just spit them out and the fire shrimp wound up eating them all himself (He is a total pig...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Lolll he does look old and grumpy. I think that's part of his cuteness. I hope he will do better than he was in the store. When I turn the lights out he swims around the whole tank and near the top as well sometimes. I'm hoping that having the pistol with him might help too. Thanks for the...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Aww that's so sad! He was such a pretty color. I hope he changes back! I think I figured out why mine has been that silvery color. When we picked him up from the lfs all he had in the tank was a rock, nothing else. Probably stressed the life out of him. I tried to take a picture of him but he...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Holy crazy! He looks just like mine LOL with that silver color. I got three different answers at the lfs about how he is a baby and will change yellow when he grows, that it is female so its silver, and that there are differnt species of watchman. Its good to know whats reallt wrong now!! How...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Thanks Carey! He does look funny with his big mouth wide open and then flies back to his hole with his new friend. He is just so stinking cute!!! Just making sure he wouldnt hurt the wrasse! Does anyone know if the goby will change yellow eventually? Because right now he is just a silvery...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Hey All! Hope everyone is well! I have added some new additions to the tank! I have a pistol shrimp, a yellow watchman goby (who actually is not yellow in color?), fire shrimp and a six line wrasse. The pistol has actually dug tunnels under all the rock and made a mess of the sand bed! But I...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

So it has been almost 2 weeks into the cycle (first in this lifetime!) and there is some really nasty stuff growing in the tank! I tested the water today and the nitrates 40, nitrites 0, ph 8.8 (seems high!), ammonia 0. Because I went away for the weekend I actually have not seen the ammonia go...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Thanks Carey, your such a stress reliever! I have been listening to my LFS and he told me that you can cycle the tank with just the live cured rock. It just didn't seem to me that it would do anything to the tank without actually adding something or doing something to the water. Is it actually...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Thanks Carey! How much pure ammonia should I be putting in to get it up? Also, will the ammonia levels go down by themselves without water changes? Thanks!

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Hey guys, I have one more question for the time being! I have read the fishless cycling of the tank but I'm a bit lost. I have been assured by my LFS that seeing how I purchased 35 pounds of cured live rock that was placed in water from a coral reef tank (which was also added to the tank)...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to buy the lights in the next few days. So far I have spent around 900-1000 on the setup with the equipment and cured live rock so I'm going to wait a few days! I was hoping to house lots of different corals. I love love love the corals that sway in the flow of the water...

Newly Built 29 Gallon Tank Up And Ready

That's great! I like to hear about people having them before I actually go out and buy them. I've been trying to read up on things before I go into the lfs ever since I was talked into getting the Red Sea Prizm skimmer and having it be really horrible! Any ideas on what corals are...
