Phosban Reactor 150 and Rowaphos question.

Quick update. It's now been over a week since adding the reactor. I have changed rowaphos media twice, but I can't get my phophate below about .15. The lowest I measured with my hanna checker from the output tube of the reactor was .08 at one stage. Since then, it's staying at around .14 and I...

Yeah, they are hard to get here in Australia too. Never seen one in an LFS, only online and the flat rate postage is $90, so I'm not paying $60 for the fish and then $90 postage. I'll probably be able to get a Lineatus before the Mccoskers. A local LFS is getting a Lineatus in for me. LFS is...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

It's a great fish and I recommend it. I don't see many here in Australia, hence why it was so expensive :( Guess I better work some type of lid out, as I plan on getting a mccosker's and lineatus wrasse anyway. The cabinet came with a hood, but obviously the LED lighting doesn't fit below it.

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Just had my first fish death.. a carpet surfer :( Water is perfect, but my Midas Blenny decided to head for the light and instead found its way behind my cabinet overnight. He was a kool fish, always swimming out and showing out. Real shame. Cost me $55 too..

Good news, phosphate is down to .14 now, 2 days after adding the reactor it has dropped from .65. Very happy. Rowaphos is doing its thang! That being said, cyano is still growing. I think I'll let this phosphate get a little lower (.08 or so) and then do the 3 day lights out routine to see if I...

Phosban Reactor 150 and Rowaphos question.

Hey guys, about 12-13 hours ago I added a Two Little Fishes Phosban Reactor 150 to my system and added Rowaphos to it. My tank is new, and before adding the reactor, the tank was at .6 phosphate. I just tested the output of the reactor, and it's still at .25, what is this indicating? Do I not...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Quick update. Finally got around to buying the TWF Phosban Reactor 150. Hopefully this will clean the mess that is covering my sand and drop my .60 phosphates. I really want to make this mostly an SPS tank, but no adding SPS till these phosphates go down. I have been a little down about the...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Loving my Midas Blenny :) He was a great find. Always in the free water swimming, haven't seen him hiding in rocks in over a day! I'm thinking of adding a Lineatus Wrasse when they come into my LFS next. The Lineatus is much cheaper here than in the US (only $40-50). I already have my name down...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Yeah no joke haha.. I have no idea where they came from but they gradually drop with each water change. I've been thinking about the last additions to my tank. I have room for probably 2 more. I'm thinking a Royal Gramma (or a lineatus wrasse) and Kole Tang. I know some will say the Kole Tang is...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Haha yes they are great fish! Very entertaining. Super excited, I have another new addition yesterday!!! I have never seen one of these in an LFS in Australia, and the other day one of my favorite LFS had three!! Midas Blenny! He's a beautiful yellow colour, and he's definitely not shy. I've...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Long time no update! Internet has been down for over 2 weeks. I have some new additions!!! A six-line wrasse. He's an awesome fish, exactly what I was looking for. He actively swims in between all the holes in the rocks, in the open water, does dances. Very pretty fish. The addition I'm also...

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

I've never seen a watchman goby in an LFS here in Australia. I've seen one online for $100 lol. I find chromis quite boring, I'm getting a scooter (dragonet I know), bangai cardinals aren't bad but I want fish that are more active, and the flame hawk will eat pods/my peppermint shrimp lol :( I...

Haha yep. Thanks for the info on the gramma, that sucks though! Didn't realize they ate pods too. This blenny is crossing lots off the list, but they're just so awesome lol.

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

To be honest.. No idea. I really want a scooter blenny down the road, so I can't get te six-line wrasse I had planned. I really like the royal gramma, but they are like $80 in Australia and you only come across one once so often. I also really like the lOngnose hawkfish, but I don't want them...

Kool thanks! Looking forward to these spreading out some more. It's been nearly 2 weeks since adding my first two fish, so this weekend I'm heading down to the LFS to see what's goig to be my next addition :)

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Thanks Carey. Sorry for the ignorance, but do I take the zoas off the plug and glue them on the rock, or place the plug on the rock? If I need to take them off the rock, what's the safest way to do this as to not hurt the frag?
  24. M

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

Thanks Carey sure does. Is anyone able to tell me how to grt a new frag of zoas I bOught to start growing on a rock? Currently they are on a small frag plug, there's probably about 20-30 heads. Do l just place the frag plug in the sand next to the rock or?

55 gallon reef - First Saltwater Build Ever!

What kind of light should I be giving the tank during the day? My light cycle is blues on at 4pm, whites and blues from 5-11pm, blues only from 11-12 midnight when they turn off. So they get complete darkness from 12:30am till I wake up. What kind of lighting should they have from the morning...
