I'm in the process of looking for a new home. Once I buy my house how do I relocate the tank? 55gallon FOWLR - 2 clowns, 1 puffer fish, 1 domino damsel, 1 scooter blenny and 2 chocolate starfish. Will I need to go through a cycle again? The tank is 4 months old.

I have a 55gallon FOWLR with an Emporer 400. How often should I replace the carbon it? How often should I rinse out the pads that came with it? Thanks.

I have the same problem w/ my Emporer and a 55g tank. I don't think it has anything to do w/ plumbing since there really isn't any plumbing involved. I just figured it might be helping to add oxygen to the water, so I've ignoted it.

How do I vacuum the sand?

My 55 gallon tank is now cycled. I have 6 turbo snails I just put in there on Saturday. I have a bunch of dark colored stuff all over the top of my sandbed. What should I get that will stir up the sandbed or clean it? Thanks.

I didn't use any ammonia remover. My test kit came with the 55gallon saltwater setup kit I purchased. I will check when I get home to make sure you can use it for SW.

I've tested it twice. Once last week and again yesterday. Do you think I need a new test kit?

I don't know the name of my test kit but it uses pieces of color shaded plastic. I add chemical powder to my water and then compare the water color to the color shading on the pieces of plastic. Anyway, the ammonia clor shaded plastic piece is different shades of green. My water is blue. I'm...

OK, I went and looked at pics of the mantis shrimp. That is definitely what I have. It came with my LR from liverocks.com.

Well I tried to take some pictures yesterday and this thing is just too elusive. Maybe this will help ID it: it makes a loud clicking sound. When I first heard it I thought my glass was starting to crack or something. Anyone know what it is now?

It came from liverocks.com. Most of the hitchikers are alive. How do I know what the good hitchikers are and what the bad hitchikers are? it was completely sealed with some water and damp blue rags.

I don't think it was a bristleworm. I searched the internet and the pics don't really look like what this thing looks like. It seemed to have a head and a hard shell like casing. Well I went home for lunch and the box was there. :D I have a question though. There was some centipede type of creature with it. It was about 3 - 3.5" long. A reddish brown color. When I dropped it in the tank it went scurrying along the sand and hid behind the rocks. What is it?

Well I went to the HD in Reading, PA last night. And it is the right sand like the guy said in my original post. It's a blue and red bag w/ a boy on it. It also says not for traction or aquarium use. :roll:

What should I look for in cured LR? Should I see a bunch of stuff growing on it? One of my LFS sells cured LR. It doesn't look very colorful though. Maybe it's because her tanks aren't very bright. Well, there not dark, just not as lit up as I think they ought to be. But then again, I'm new to...

The Home Depot in Reading, PA sells Old Castle silica free tropical play sand. 50lbs - 4.99. At least that's what the guy on the phone said. I'll be going there tomorrow to get some. :)
