How many hermit crabs and snails are reccomended for a 29 gal tank?

Good idea on the check valve for the return line. The two valves on the pump return would be for flow control, I could reduce the flow to the tank and open the valve for the return to the sump and not increase the back pressure on the pump too much. As for the UV, it would not be on the drain...

I got the 110GPD FilterDirect RO/DI unit from eBay. Easy to install and it seems to work fine. I'm thinking about getting a TDS meter to monitor the performance. Anyone use one? Any recommendations.

Being new to SW, I was wondering if using a UV unit or an Ozone generator is worth the additional cost. Do they really make that much of a difference? Either way it will be for a 125gal FOWLR tank. Thanks

I'm thinking of building my own wet/dry filter, seems rather easy. All one would need is a large bin for a sump and a smaller bin for the bio filter, I figure for a 100gal tank I would need an 8gal bio bin, a protein skimmer in the sump and that would be enough. Any one done this, is it worth it?

I see the confusion, the wet/dry and tank will both be in the basement. Also I found some information about calculating head pressure at the web site for Dolphin pumps.

Short ceiling? The filter will be sitting on the floor, and the discharge will be at the top of the tank, approx. 4-5' above the floor level. Does horizontal distance and plumbing diameter have any impact on head pressure calculations?

I don't have anything right now, I'm looking at the AquaClear Pro 200 with a pair of CAP 2200 pumps. The floor is level and the tank return would be at a height of about 5'. Heat shouldn't be an issue. Thanks.
