What wattage are your metal halides? What spectrum are you using? I too love what I have with the metal halides. Hate the heat but love the results!

My understanding is that LED light is very "pin point" for a lack of a better term. The light directs straight down and doesn't have as wide an "arc, cone spread?" as other lights.

make sure to check your nitrite and nitrate levels also. ammonia should go down and nitrites rise then nitrites go down and nitrates rise. when the nitrites reach zero you should be good to go! make sure to add animals slowly ( amount not speed lol) and keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrite...

Clean it how? Plecos (sucker fish) will help eat algae but your still going to have to scrub, gravel wash and do your water changes on a regular basis

There are some that say that activated carbon can be one of the causes of head and lateral line disease. I use it on my coral system with no problems. I feel over all that it helps but if I saw any HLLD start it would be the first thing I pull off.
