I don't have a sponge filter-my tank is set up and I can slow the return flow from the power filter to a drip so it won't make a current. But what about an air pump? Do they not NEED an air pump or do I not have a choice about getting a sponge filter? Help please! :fish1:

I know axolotls will digest any substrate too small. I found those clear pebble-like stones that I thought were big enough, but I'm not sure. I do not have an axolotl yet. The pebbles I have are about two centimeters in diameter. Are those too small? If so, what else can I put down?

The last two fish died today--Thanks for the advice. I don't think we have all of the right FW test kits so we're taking it into a local petshop that will test it for us. I think when we replace these guys, it'll be with one guy and I'll reclaim the tank. This was a waste of money and LIFE!
